IV Corps (Pakistan)
The IV Corps is a corps of Pakistan Army. Having established in 1965 after the Indo-Pakistani September War, it is currently stationed in Lahore, Punjab Province of Pakistan. The current corps commander is Lieutenant General Salman Fayyaz Ghanni. History The corps was formed in January 1966 and was the second corps level formation created by Pakistan Army. After independence, Pakistan Army had an organisation whereby all divisions were controlled directly by General Headquarters. Although a corps (the I Corps) was raised in the late 1950s, it was found that the organisation was unwieldy, and thus orders for a second corps and a field army to control the two corps were given, the army was later disbanded. 1965 War The Corps and its assigned assets were still under the process of raising when war came. Gujranwala
Gujranwala ( ur, , label=none; ) is a city and capital of Gujranwala Division located in Pakistan. It is also known as "City of Wrestlers" and is quite famous for its food. It is the 5th most populous city proper after Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi respectively. Founded in the 18th century, Gujranwala is a relatively modern town compared to the many nearby millennia-old cities of northern Punjab. Attiqur Rahman
Mohammed Attiqur Rahman ( Punjabi, ur, ), MC (24 June 1918 – 1 June 1996) was a senior general in the Pakistan Army, a noted military historian, and a senior government official. He was the martial law administrator (MLA) of West Pakistan in General Yahya Khan's military regime. He was educated at St.Paul's school, London and joined IMA in 1939 with a sword of Honour and then joined 4th/12th FFR. He was the last Governor of West Pakistan and implemented the dissolution of the One Unit scheme, after which he became the first Governor of Punjab province. Early life Born on 24 June 1918, Rahman was the son of Lt Colonel Abdur Rahman, RIAMC. The 6th Armoured Division is a Pakistan Army armoured division currently based in Gujranwala, in Punjab Province. History Formation The division was originally an armoured brigade known as the 100 Independent Armoured Brigade Group. The I Corps, also known as I Strike Corps, of the Pakistan Army headquartered in Mangla, Azad Kashmir Territory of Pakistan.
