IV (Winger Album)
''IV'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Winger, and the first after their 1993 album '' Pull''. Background According to frontman Kip Winger, one morning he "just woke up and heard the new Winger record" in his head, knowing just what he wanted to do with it. It was released in October 2006 on Frontiers Records. The album is the most musically progressive album of Winger's career. Lyrically, much of the album is sung from the perspective of U.S. soldiers stationed overseas. Kip Winger was inspired to do this after performing solo shows at U.S. military bases, and being touched by the stories of the soldiers he met. Winger (band)
Winger is an American heavy metal band that has combined elements of glam metal and progressive metal. Formed in New York City, Winger gained popularity during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The band's two platinum albums, '' Winger'', and '' In the Heart of the Young'', along with charting singles " Seventeen", "Headed for a Heartbreak" and " Miles Away", put them on the top of the charts by the early 1990s. In 1990, the band was nominated for an American Music Award for "Best New Heavy Metal Band". As the music scene changed in the early to mid-1990s due to the popularity of grunge, their success faded following their third release, ''Pull''. Winger disbanded in 1994. In 2001 they reunited and have since conducted several successful tours. Ethan Daniel Van Sciver (No date on article; date appears in the website') (; born September 3, 1974) is an American comics artist and social media personality. He is known for illustrating or drawing covers for a number of superhero titles in the 2000s, primarily for DC Comics, including ''Green Lantern'' and '' The Flash: Rebirth'', and '' New X-Men'' for Marvel Comics. Rod Morgenstein
Rod Morgenstein (born April 19, 1953) is an American drummer and music educator. He is best known for his work with the rock bands Winger and Dixie Dregs. He also played with Fiona, Platypus, the Steve Morse Band, and Jelly Jam. He has also done session work with Jordan Rudess including his ventures with the Rudess/Morgenstein Project. He also toured with Jazz Is Dead. He has also been awarded ''Modern Drummer''s "Best Progressive Rock Drummer" five years (1986-'90), "Best All-Around Drummer" (1999) and was inducted into magazine's Honor Roll. He worked for twenty years as a professor, teaching percussion at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Morgenstein continues to tour with the band Winger. John Roth (musician)
John Roth is an American guitarist, best known for his work with the rock bands Winger, Black Oak Arkansas, and Giant, has been touring and recording with national acts since the mid-1980s. Biography Roth got his start at the age of 19 when Jim Dandy, lead vocalist of Black Oak Arkansas, asked him to join the band as lead guitarist in 1986. After touring the U.S. and Canada with Black Oak in the mid 1980s, Roth joined forces with Survivor's lead vocalist Jimi Jamison in 1989 to record Jamison's first solo release ''When Love Comes Down''. The first single, "Rock Hard", co-written by Roth, was featured on the hit television series ''Baywatch''. After touring with Jamison in the early 1990s, Roth joined Winger in 1993 for a tour of the U.S. and Japan in support of the band's third record, ''Pull'', as well as appearing in the band's videos "Down Incognito" and "Who's The One". Reb Beach
Richard Earl "Reb" Beach Jr. (born August 31, 1963) is an American rock guitarist. He is a member of the bands Winger and Whitesnake. Career After graduating from Fox Chapel Area High School and attending Berklee College of Music in the early 1980s, he played in Fiona's backing band and became an accomplished studio musician, working with the likes of Howard Jones, Chaka Khan, The Bee Gees, Twisted Sister, and Roger Daltrey, among others, showcasing Beach's ability to adapt to various musical styles. While working with Fiona, he was introduced to Kip Winger, who was touring with Alice Cooper at the time. Eventually they formed the band Sahara along with Rod Morgenstein and Paul Taylor, which was later renamed to Winger. ''Pull'' is the third studio album by American rock band Winger. The album was released in 1993 by Atlantic Records. It was produced by Mike Shipley on a considerable budget and marked a significant change in Winger's sound, eschewing their glam metal anthems prevalent in their first two albums for a harder and more aggressive style of music with a good dose of socio-political leanings on tracks like "Blind Revolution Mad", "In for the Kill" and "Who's the One". The material was also less commercial and radio-friendly, evident especially in the track "Junkyard Dog (Tears on Stone)" incorporating contemporary heavy metal and progressive elements and clocking in at 6:54.
