The International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers' Associations (IUF) is a global union federation of trade unions with members in a variety of industries, many of which relate to food processing. History The federation was founded in 1920 with the merger of the International Federation of Bakers, Pastry Cooks and Allied Workers' Associations, the International Federation of Meat Workers, and the International Federation of Brewery Workers. Originally named the International Union of Food and Allied Workers' Associations (IUFAWA), its affiliates were all European until 1950, but it then rapidly expanded worldwide. Global Union Federation
A global union federation (GUF) is an international federation of national trade unions organizing in specific industry sectors or occupational groups. Historically, such federations in the social democratic tradition described as international trade secretariats (ITS),. while those in the Christian democratic tradition described themselves as international trade federations. Equivalent sectoral bodies linked to the World Federation of Trade Unions described themselves as Trade Union Internationals. Many unions are members of one or more global union federations, relevant to the sectors where they have their members. Australasian Meat Industry Employees' Union
The Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union (also known as the Meatworkers Union) is an Australian trade union representing workers in the meat industry including in abattoirs, butchers, and smallgoods manufacturers. Structure The AMIEU has branches representing workers each State and Territory of Australia. Branch officials are democratically elected by the members every four years. The union also has a Federal Council, which represents the union nationally and is the supreme decision making body of the union. The Council is composed of elected delegates from each branch, who meet every two years to determine policy for the union and elect the Federal Secretary and President. In between the biannual meetings of the Council the union is governed by a Federal Executive made up of the secretaries of each branch as well as the Federal Secretary and President. The Australian Workers' Union (AWU) is one of Australia's largest and oldest trade unions. It traces its origins to unions founded in the pastoral and mining industries in the 1880s and currently has approximately 80,000 members. It has exercised an outsized influence on the Australian trade union movement and on the Australian Labor Party throughout its history. PRO-GE
PRO-GE is a trade union representing production workers in manufacturing, agriculture and mining, in Austria. The union was founded in November 2009, when the Chemical Workers' Union (Austria), Chemical Workers' Union (GdC) merged with the Metal-Textile-Food Union (GMTN). On formation, the union had 255,000 members, and was the third largest affiliate of the Austrian Trade Union Federation. Rainer Wimmer, formerly of the GdC, was elected as the union's first president. While the union recruits across the metal, mining, energy, textiles, leather, agriculture, food processing and tobacco sectors, it also recruits temporary workers in any sector. However, it only recruits blue collar workers, with managers and clerical staff being represented by other unions.
