ITV Evening News
The ''ITV Evening News'' is the evening news programme produced by ITN on the British television network ITV. It airs Monday to Friday from 6:30pm, covering British national and international news stories and is presented by Mary Nightingale. History On 22 September 1955 when the ITV television service was launched, ITN provided an early evening news service at 5:50pm. It was known as ''ITN News'', and presented by Gordon Honeycombe. This simple bulletin made use of a single camera, and was intended as a round-up of the day's headlines and looking at stories to be covered in more length by that evening's edition of '' News at Ten''. On 6 September 1976, ''ITN News'' moved to 5:45pm and was renamed ''News at 545''. The ''545'' marked a major departure in presentational style from the ''ITN News'' that had preceded it. Mary Nightingale
Mary Nightingale (born 26 May 1963) is an English journalist and television presenter, best known for presenting the ''ITV Evening News'' since 2001. Education and early career Nightingale was educated at St Margaret's School, an independent school for girls, near the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter, Devon, and King Edward VI School in Totnes, Devon. Fiona Armstrong
Fiona Armstrong, Lady MacGregor (born 28 November 1956), is a British television journalist and is Lord Lieutenant of Dumfries. She is also the author of several books and has written for newspapers and made television programmes on Scottish topics including fishing and Scottish clans. Early life Armstrong was born in Preston, Lancashire. As a child she lived for ten years in Nigeria, where her father was in the colonial service. ''ITV News London'' is a British television news service broadcast on both ITV London and the ITV Hub. It is produced by ITN. Mark Austin (journalist)
Mark William Austin (born 1 November 1958) is an English journalist and television presenter, currently working for ''Sky News''. Austin is best known as the former co-newscaster for the '' ITV Evening News'', alongside Mary Nightingale, and the former co-newscaster of the '' ITV News at Ten'', alongside Julie Etchingham. He also presented the ITV documentary series '' Real Crime'' from 2008 until 2011. Kirsty Young
Kirsty Jackson Young (born 23 November 1968) is a Scottish television and radio presenter. From 2006 to 2018 she was the main presenter of BBC Radio 4's ''Desert Island Discs''. She presented ''Crimewatch'' on BBC One from 2008 to 2015. Early life Young was born in East Kilbride. She attended Cambusbarron Primary School and Stirling High School. ITV Nightly News
The ''ITV Nightly News'' was the nightly news programme on British television network ITV, produced by ITN and broadcast Monday to Friday at 11:00pm. The 20-minute bulletin, originally presented by Dermot Murnaghan, was introduced as part of a major overhaul of news on ITV that saw its 5:40pm '' Early Evening News'' and prestigious '' News at Ten'' programmes axed. These changes proved to be extremely unpopular with viewers and viewing figures declined. The ''ITV Nightly News'' was axed after less than two years and replaced by a reintroduced ''ITV News at Ten'' in order to halt the ratings loss. The revived 10:00pm bulletin followed the same 20-minute format as the ''ITV Nightly News'', and although initially successful, eventually faltered in the ratings due to haphazard scheduling and delayed start times. Dermot John Murnaghan (; born 26 December 1957) is a British broadcaster. A presenter for Sky News, he was a news presenter at CNBC Europe, Independent Television News and BBC News. Big Ben
Big Ben is the nickname for the Great Bell of the Great Clock of Westminster, at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London, England, and the name is frequently extended to refer also to the clock and the clock tower. John Suchet
John Aleck Suchet ( ; born 29 March 1944) is an English author, television news journalist, and presenter of classical music on Classic FM. Suchet has two brothers, one of whom is the actor Sir David Suchet. Early life Suchet was born in London, the son of Joan Patricia (née Jarché; 1916–1992), an actress, and Jack Suchet, (1908–2001) who emigrated from South Africa to England in 1932, and trained to be a doctor at St Mary's Hospital, London in 1933. ITV Weather
ITV Weather is the national and regional forecast shown on UK terrestrial network ITV, and is provided by the Met Office (except the Channel Islands forecast, which is provided by the Jersey Meteorological Department). Bulletins are usually broadcast after every ITV News and ITV regional bulletin, although during ITV News at 6.30pm national weather is broadcast live from the news studio.
