ISKA
The ISKA (originally International Sport Karate Association, later also called the International Sport Kickboxing Association) is one of the major international bodies regulating sport karate and kickboxing matches, and is based in the United States. It was established in 1985 as a response to legal and revenue issues that sent the Professional Karate Association (PKA) into decline. History From 1974 until 1985, the PKA had been the most recognized worldwide kickboxing sanctioning group. It was instrumental in establishing public relay of the sport via ESPN, helping to introduce the burgeoning sport to a wider audience, and had also developed the first fighter's ratings systems. Five major U.S.-based promoters and resigning PKA executives created the new body, the International Sport Karate Association (ISKA), with an official announcement on July 16, 1986. Tenshin Nasukawa
is a Japanese professional kickboxer, boxer and mixed martial artist. A generational talent, Nasukawa was regarded as a pound for pound talent throughout most of his career as a professional kickboxer and is regarded as one of the greatest kickboxers in the modern history of the sport. Nasukawa became famous after his knockout victories over former IBF boxing world champion Amnat Ruenroeng in 2017 and Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai champion Wanchalong PK Saenchaigym in 2016. Yannick Reine
Yannick Reine (born 12 June 1987) is a French kickboxer. He is a WKN World Lightweight kickboxing champion, and the current ISKA World K-1 Super Lightweight champion. Combat Press ranked him in the Bantamweight top ten between May and July 2019. Martial arts career In April 2016, Yannick fought Lorenzo Piras for the WKN European Muaythai Lightweight title. He beat Piras by decision. In December 2016, Reine fought Soufiane Hammani for the ISKA World K-1 Super Lightweight title. Reine won the fight by unanimous decision. Franck Gross (born 26 February 1988) is a French kickboxer who has been professionally competing since 2011. He is the current WAKO Bantamweight World K1 Champion and the current ISKA Oriental Rules Featherweight champion. He is the former ISKA Bantamweight Champion, the former Enfusion Bantamweight World Champion, and the former WBC Muaythai International Flyweight Champion. Scott Coker (born October 3, 1962) is an American mixed martial artist, Taekwondoin, former movie stuntman, and combat sports promoter. He is the founder and former CEO of MMA promotion Strikeforce and the current President of Bellator MMA. Background Scott Coker was born in Seoul in 1962. His father, an American from Tennessee, had arrived in Korea shortly after the Korean War. He met Scott's mother, a Korean, while she was singing at a USO club. They married in December 1959. Paul Zadro
Paul Zadro (born 15 March 1963, at Innisfail, in Northern Queensland), is an Australian martial artist, sport administrator and promoter. He is currently the chairman of the International Sports Karate Association in Australia and an 8th Degree Black Belt in Kempo Karate. Background Zadro started boxing under Jimmy Sharman in 1972 at Mareeba, North Queensland, and he trained in Judo under the Kodokan Judo Association from 1973 to 1975. After moving to Sydney with his family, he studied Tae Kwon Do from 1975 to 1979 at the Marconi Club in Bossley Park, and attained the rank of Junior Black Belt. Welterweight
Welterweight is a weight class in combat sports. Originally the term "welterweight" was used only in boxing, but other combat sports like Muay Thai, taekwondo, and mixed martial arts also use it for their own weight division system to classify the opponents. In most sports that use it, welterweight is heavier than lightweight but lighter than middleweight. Etymology The first known instance of the term is from 1831, meaning "heavyweight horseman," later "boxer or wrestler of a certain weight" by 1896.
