ILUG-Delhi
ILUG-Delhi is a Linux user group, and is the Delhi Chapter of the India Linux User Group community (ILUG). ILUG-D regularly organises meetings to discuss Free and Open Source Software. Meetings were usually organised once a month and announced on the linux-delhi mailing-lis Linux-Delhi has also conducted events such as the Linux Demo Day for popularisation of FOSS. In 2005 and 2006, ILUGD organized the event "FreeDel" to popularize FOSS tools and philosophy. The first of these events took place on the 17th and 18 September 2005. In 2007 the event was renamed to "Freed.in"; it was held until 2009. In the summer of 2006, a bio-informatics workshop was run in collaboration with JNU Bio Informatics Centre, to develop FOSS solutions in Bio-Informatics field and to nurture talent in FOSS tools and languages. Bangalore Linux User Group
The Bangalore Linux Users Group (BLUG) is a FOSS, Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) user group. History Formed in 1998, the group participated in Bangalore IT.COM 1999 (now known as Bangalore IT.in), then India's largest technology event. The Government of Karnataka gave the BLUG an entire pavilion, where it exhibited Linux-based machines showing various applications, under the motto "Seeing is believing". Over the years, the BLUG participated in a number of technology events, and from 2001 to 2004 facilitation (business), facilitated Linux Bangalore, a FOSS event with thousands of delegates from India and abroad. The current edition of the event is called FOSS.IN. In late 2000, the BLUG was registered as a not-for-profit society, under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act 1960. Jitsi is a collection of free and open-source multiplatform voice (VoIP), video conferencing and instant messaging applications for the web platform, Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS and Android. The Jitsi project began with the Jitsi Desktop (previously known as SIP Communicator). Free Software Users Group, Thiruvananthapuram
The origins of the Free software community in Thiruvananthapuram can be traced back to the group of TeX users around the University of Kerala in early 1980s. The community then later named themselves Thiruvananthapuram LUG (Indian Linux Users Group), GNU/Linux Users Group, Thiruvananthapuram and then ultimately Free Software Users Group, Thiruvananthapuram. The community has worked with the government in helping with key Free software initiatives in the government and also in promoting and supporting Free software among the general public.
