IEEE Daniel E. Noble Award
The IEEE Daniel E. Noble Award is a Technical Field Award of the IEEE for contributions to emerging technologies. The award is named after Daniel E. Noble. The award was established by the IEEE Board of Directors in 2000, replacing the prior IEEE Morris N. Liebmann Memorial Award. The award may be presented to an individual or a team of up to three people. Recipients receive a bronze medal, certificate and honorarium. Rajiv V. Joshi is an Indian-American prolific inventor and research staff member at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center. His work focuses on the development of integrated circuits and memory chips. He is an IEEE Fellow and received the Industrial Pioneer Award from the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society in 2013 and the IEEE Daniel E. Noble Award in 2018. He holds 271 U.S. patents. Stuart Stephen Papworth Parkin (born 9 December 1955) is an experimental physicist, IBM Fellow and manager of the magnetoelectronics group at the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California. He is also a consulting professor in the department of applied physics at Stanford University and director of the IBM-Stanford Spintronic Science and Applications Center, which was formed in 2004.
