IDF Command And Staff College
The Command and Staff College ( he, המכללה הבין-זרועית לפיקוד ולמטה), abbreviated he, פּוּ"ם, פום, PUM, also translated as Inter-Service Command and Staff College, Israel, is intended for the training of senior Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officers. It was established on May 31, 1954. In mid-1980s the collected statistics showed that a significant number of senior officers paid little attention to this kind of study. This, together with the drawbacks in military training revealed during the 1982 Lebanon War, had led to a series of reorganizations, continued well into 2010s. In 1991 all military colleges, including PUM, were merged into the IDF Military Colleges unit under the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, General Staff. In 2004 it was decided to add a course for Air Force. Rafael David (Rafi) Milo ( he, רפאל דוד "רפי" מילוא; born April 17, 1972) is an Israel Defense Forces major general (Aluf) who currently serves as the commander of the Homefront Command. Milo previously served as the commander of the IDF staff college, 91st "Galilee Territorial Division, 80th "Edom" Territorial Division, Shayetet 13, Baram Territorial Brigade and the Etzioni Brigade. Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries. Roni Numa ( he, רוני נומה; also known as Ronny Numa,born 1967) is an Israeli retired Major general (Aluf) who headed the Central Command of the Israel Defense Force from 2015 to 2018.
