Iñaki Gabilondo
José Ignacio Gabilondo Pujol (born 19 October 1942), better known as Iñaki Gabilondo, is a Spanish journalist and broadcaster. He is one of Spain's best-known news anchors. Biography The second-born in a family of nine, Gabilondo studied Philosophy and Literature with Journalism at the University of Navarra. He started his career aged 21 at Radio Popular, which later became Cadena COPE. He stayed there until 1969, when he became the director of his local Radio San Sebastián, affiliated to the public Cadena SER. Two years later, he directed the news department of Cadena SER in Seville. In 1978 he directed and hosted ''Hora 25'' on Cadena SER in Madrid, until he became the TV news director of Televisión Española, the Spanish public TV network, two years later. 1981 Spanish Coup Attempt
A coup d'état was attempted in Spain in February 1981 by elements of the Civil Guard and the Spanish military. The failure of the coup marked the last serious attempt to revert Spain to a Francoist government and served to consolidate Spain's democratization process. King Juan Carlos I played a major role in foiling the coup, and the monarchy emerged with renewed legitimacy as a result. The coup began on 23 February 1981 when Lieutenant-Colonel Antonio Tejero, along with 200 armed Civil Guard officers, stormed the Congress of Deputies chamber in Madrid during a vote to swear in Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo as President of the Government. The officers held the parliamentarians and ministers hostage for 18 hours, during which the King denounced the coup in a public television broadcast, calling for rule of law and the democratic government to continue. The Corporación de Radio y Televisión Española (; ), known as Radiotelevisión Española (''Spanish Radio and Television'', RTVE), is the Spanish national public Broadcasting, television and radio broadcaster. Canal+ (Spanish TV Channel)
Canal+ was a Spanish commercial television channel operated by Sogecable, before its eventual sale to Telefónica. It was available on the digital satellite television and IPTV platform Movistar+. History Canal+ began its trial transmissions on June 8, 1990 and it launched as a regular channel on September 14 of the same year as a terrestrial channel in Spain. Similar to its French counterpart, the channel broadcast most of its content encrypted, forcing the usage of a decoder to view all programming on the channel properly. The Spanish version was already using the Nagravision encryption system at launch, while the French version would not implement it until two years later.
