Izet Nanić
Izet Nanić (4 October 1965 – 5 August 1995) was a Bosnian Army brigade commander during the Bosnian war of independence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Family An ethnic Bosnian Muslim, Izet Nanić was born to Ibrahim Nanić (1939–2000) and Rasima (born 1945) in the town of Bužim, as second of seven children. His younger brother Nevzet was killed near Bosanska Krupa on 30 June 1992, at the start of the war in Bosnia. He was married to Safija Remetić, from Varoška Rijeka. Together they had three children; a daughter and two sons. Career Until January 1991, Nanić was an officer of the Yugoslav People's Army, when he returned to his home in Bužim due to a broken leg. He was a lieutenant of the Yugoslav Air Force and Antiaircraft Defence in Kragujevac, Serbia. Bužim
Bužim ( sr-cyrl, Бужим) is a town and municipality located in Una-Sana Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is situated in the most northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Geography Bužim borders Bosanska Krupa to the east, Cazin to the south, Velika Kladuša to the west and north, and finally with the Republic of Croatia to the northeast. Geographically most of the municipality is mountainous. The total land area of Bužim is about with a population of 20,000. Bužim is about 180–400 meters above sea-level. Bužim is situated in the North-West of Bosnia, actually in North-West part of Unsko-Sanski canton and it is one of eight municipalities in that canton. Operation Munja '93
Operation Munja 93 was one of the most successful operations from the Army of the Republic of Bosnia executed by the 505th Buzim brigade where they liberated a considerable area of state territory in the area of Banjani. Background The Operation was planned in great secrecy in October 1992. 360 fighters from the 505th Buzim Brigade were engaged for this operation and they were divide into six groups. The same number of fighters were engaged without weapons, behind the first combat groups, and their task was to evacuate the wounded and killed in battle and to pass the weapons of the dead and wounded and possibly captured barrels to the fighters without weapons. On the Serbian side there was one battalion of the 1st Novigrad Light Brigade, who did not suffer from the same lack of weapons as the Bosnians and were well armed. Kragujevac
Kragujevac ( sr-Cyrl, Крагујевац, ) is the fourth largest city in Serbia and the administrative centre of the Šumadija District. The Bosnian War ( sh, Rat u Bosni i Hercegovini / Рат у Босни и Херцеговини) was an international armed conflict that took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina between 1992 and 1995. The war is commonly seen as having started on 6 April 1992, following a number of earlier violent incidents. The war ended on 14 December 1995 when the Dayton accords were signed. Bosanska Krupa ( sr-cyrl, Босанска Крупа) is a municipality located in the Una-Sana Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As of 2013, it has a population of 29,659 inhabitants. It is situated on the banks of river Una in northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina, northeast from Bihać (350 km away from Sarajevo).
