Iza Valentine
Iza Valentine (1976–2009) was an American Thoroughbred racing filly best known for coming in second in the 1980 Las Madrinas Handicap and coming in third in the 1980 Bangles and Beads Stakes. Her total career earnings were $69,500, and she won five races from 25 starts. Her greater success was as a broodmare; she was California Broodmare of the Year in 1985. Iza Valentine's first foal was multiple Graded stakes race, stakes winner Fran's Valentine (sired by Saros), who won the Kentucky Oaks and Hollywood Oaks. Iza Valentine was also the dam of Iz A Saros and Carsonality. In November 2004, she retired to Our Mims Retirement Haven, Kentucky, where she lived until failing health led to her Animal euthanasia, euthanasia on August 6, 2009. Hollywood Oaks
The Summertime Oaks is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually in June at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. The Grade II event is open to three-year-old fillies willing to race on dirt at a distance of one and one-sixteenth miles. Round Table (April 6, 1954 – June 13, 1987) was an American Thoroughbred Hall of Fame racehorse. He is considered the greatest turf horse in American racing history. Background Round Table was foaled at Claiborne Farm in Kentucky, on the night of April 6, 1954. Bold Ruler was foaled at the same farm, on the same night, and both stallions won American Horse of the Year honors in their respective careers, returning to Claiborne to stand at stud. Fran's Valentine (1982 – October, 2007) was a Thoroughbred racehorse filly, who, in 1985 as a three-year-old, won the Graded stakes races the Hollywood Oaks, Kentucky Oaks and Santa Susana Stakes. Trained by Joseph Manzi, she was the first filly to win both the Kentucky Oaks and Hollywood Oaks. Her lifetime earnings were $1,375,465, and she had 13 wins from 34 races. Fran's Valentine was bred at Green Thumb Farm Stables, in Chino, California by Earl Scheib, an entrepreneur who made his fortune in discounted car paint. Both of Fran's Valentine's parents, her dam Iza Valentine, and her sire, Saros, were owned by Scheib. Scheib named Fran's Valentine after his wife Fran; the filly was his favourite horse.
