Ivor Edward David
Ivor Edward David (6 April 1875 - 23 November 1913) was the seventh British colonial Inspector-General of Police in Ceylon (1910-1913). Ivor Edward David was born 6 April 1875 in Llandaff, Glamorgan, Wales. David joined the Indian Police Service having passed the Civil Service Examination, where he served in Mysore, Bangalore and Madras. In 1910 when Cyril Longden's contract as Inspector-General of Police of Ceylon expired the Colonial government first considered appointing Herbert Dowbiggin but he was determined as being too young for the position. Cyril Longden
Cyril Chapman Longden, KPM, (1873–1913) was the sixth British colonial Inspector-General of Police in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Longden was born on 1 November 1873, the fourth child and second son of Sir James Robert Longden (1827–1891) and Alice Emily née Berridge (1846–1910). Sir James Longden was the Governor of Trinidad between 1870 and 1874, the Governor of British Guiana between 1874 and 1876, and the Governor of Ceylon until 1883. Longden was the District Superintendent of Police, Madras Police. In 1905 the position of Inspector-General of Police and Prisons in Ceylon, was separated into two posts with the incumbent Major Albert Walter De Wilton continuing in the Prisons role and Longden, on loan from India, appointed as Inspector General of Police of Ceylon. The India Office was a British government department established in London in 1858 to oversee the administration, through a Viceroy and other officials, of the Provinces of India. Shri (; , ) is a Sanskrit term denoting resplendence, wealth and prosperity, primarily used as an honorific. The word is widely used in South and Southeast Asian languages such as Marathi, Malay (including Indonesian and Malaysian), Javanese, Balinese, Sinhala, Thai, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Nepali, Malayalam, Kannada, Sanskrit, Pali, Khmer, and also among Philippine languages. The ''Daily News'' is an English-language newspaper in Sri Lanka. It is now published by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (Lake House), a government-owned corporation. The newspaper commenced publishing on 3 January 1918. D. R. Wijewardena was its founder. The present-day newspaper is written as a broadsheet, with photographs printed both in color and black and white. Weekday printings include the main section, containing news on national affairs, international affairs, business, political analysis, sports, editorials and opinions. Sri Lanka Police Sports Club (Police SC) is a Division 'A' rugby union team based in Sri Lanka, competing in the Dialog Rugby League. It is the rugby union team of the Sri Lanka Police Sports Club.
