Ivanovo-Voznesensk Polytechnic Institute
Ivanovo-Voznesensk Polytechnic Institute (IVPI; russian: Иваново-Вознесенский политехнический институт) was a higher-education institution in the city of Ivanovo-Voznesensk (present-day Ivanovo) in Russia. Established on the basis of the evacuated Riga Polytechnical Institute ( ru , Рижский политехнический институт), it operated from 1918 to 1930; in 1930 it was liquidated, and branch universities were set up on the basis of individual faculties. The complex of buildings of the IVPI (Sheremetevsky Prospekt, 7) was built in 1928–1937 in the "proletarian classical" style (architect - Ivan Fomin) and included four buildings - the main building (1937), the Faculty of Chemistry (1930), working faculty (1934) and library (1931). Ivanovo ( rus, Иваново, p=ɪˈvanəvə) is a types of inhabited localities in Russia, city in Russia. It is the administrative center and largest city of Ivanovo Oblast, located northeast of Moscow and approximately from Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Russia, Vladimir and Kostroma. Aleksandr Ivanovich Nekrasov (russian: Алекса́ндр Ива́нович Некра́сов; – 21 May 1957) was a Soviet and Russian mathematician known for his mathematical contributions to hydromechanics and aeromechanics. The Nekrasov integral equation describing surface waves is named for him. Biography Nekrasov was born in Moscow, Russian Empire where he would remain for the rest of his life. He went to school and graduated from the University of Moscow in 1906. Nekrasov graduated with a first class diploma. Established in the USSR in 1923, it was called the USSR Academy of Sciences Publishing House until 1963. Until 1934 the publisher was based in Leningrad, then moved to Moscow. Evgenia Kirichenko (russian: Евгения Ивановна Кириченко; 5 January 1931 – 1 July 2021) was a Russian historian of architecture and art. She was an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts and was a recipient of the State Prize of the Russian Federation. Biography Kirichenko was born into a family of civil engineers from Zaporizhzhia. Her father, Ivan, received the Stalin State Prize for his metalwork. During her childhood, she suffered through the German occupation and starvation. In 1953, she began studying art at Moscow State University. She earned a degree in architecture in 1964, a doctorate in history in 1990, and received the State Prize of the Russian Federation in 1998. Kirichenko died in Moscow on 1 July 2021 at the age of 90.
