Ivan Kuret
Ivan Kuret (born 22 December 1971) is a Croatian politician who served as the 69th Mayor of Split from 2007 to 2009. He graduated from the University of Split with a degree in engineering. He is a member of the centre-right Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). He was elected the mayor on 17 July 2007, after the city council revoked confidence in his predecessor, Zvonimir Puljić. He was succeeded on 1 June 2009 by Željko Kerum. The Mayor of the City of Split, Croatia, Split ( hr, Gradonačelnik Grada Splita), colloquially the ''Poteštat'' (derived from "''podestà''"), is the highest official of the Croatian city of Split, Croatia, Split. From 1990 to 2007 the mayor was elected by the city assembly. Since 2007 Croatian mayors are elected directly by the citizens. The first such election in Split occurred in 2009 Split local elections, 2009. The sport of sailing involves a variety of competitive sailing formats that are sanctioned through various sailing federations and yacht clubs. The 1996 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the XXVI Olympiad, also known as Atlanta 1996 and commonly referred to as the Centennial Olympic Games) were an international multi-sport event held from July 19 to August 4, 1996, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
