Ivan Kovbasnyuk
Ivan Kovbasnyuk (born 18 May 1993) is a Ukrainian alpine skier. He represented Ukraine at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Skiing career Kovbasnyuk began skiing at the age of three. His mother, who worked as an alpine skiing coach, introduced him to the sport. As of January 2022, his best performance at the World Championships was 30th in slalom at the 2021 Championships. He participated three times at World Cup: twice (2015, 2017) in giant slalom in Sölden, Austria, and once (2018) in super-G in Val Gardena, Italy, where he finished 61st. His best World Cup result was 58th in giant slalom in Sölden, Austria, on 25 October 2015. In 2022, Kovbasnyuk was nominated for his second Winter Games in Beijing. He participated at the 2013 and 2017 Winter Universiade. His best finish was 34th in downhill in 2013. Yasinia
Yasinia ( uk, Ясіня, hu, Körösmező, sk, Jasiňa) is an urban-type settlement in Rakhiv Raion of Zakarpattia Oblast in Ukraine. Population: . It was the site of the Hutsul Republic after World War I, and the birthplace of several prominent Ukrainians declaring independence from Kingdom of Hungary. This republic was ended by Romanian troops on June 11, 1919. Yasinia was shortly reoccupied by Hungary in July 1919 and passed to Czechoslovakia according to the Treaty of Trianon. During 1919-39, it was that country's easternmost settlement. Hungary again occupied and annexed it as part of Carpathian Ruthenia in 1939 and held it until the end of the war. It was given to the Soviet Union in 1945. The wooden church in Yasinia appears on several stamps of the area, including the first stamp of Carpatho-Ukraine. Val Gardena
Val Gardena (; german: Gröden ; lld, Gherdëina ) is a valley in Northern Italy, in the Dolomites of South Tyrol. It is best known as a tourist skiing, rock climbing, and woodcarving area. Geography The valley's main river is the Derjon, a tributary of the Eisack river. The mountains that surround the valley are formed by dolomite rocks, which confer on them a characteristic appearance. Most of the steep slopes are covered by pine woods. The favoured cultivations are barley, rye, potatoes, flax, buckwheat. The three municipalities in Val Gardena are Urtijëi, Sëlva, and Santa Cristina; they were served by the Val Gardena Railway from 1916 until 1960. Culture Val Gardena is one of five valleys with a majority of Ladin speakers (two of these valleys are in South Tyrol). Alpine skiing at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held from 12 to 24 February at Yongpyong Alpine Centre (slalom and giant slalom) at the Alpensia Sports Park in PyeongChang and at the Jeongseon Alpine Centre (speed events) in Jeongseon, South Korea. FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2023
The 47th FIS Alpine World Ski Championships took place from 6 to 19 February 2023 in two neighboring locations in the French Alps, Courchevel and Méribel. The location was decided in May 2018 during the 51st FIS Congress in Costa Navarino (Greece), where Courchevel-Méribel won against Austrian Saalbach-Hinterglemm with 9 to 6 votes. The 2013 Winter Universiade, the XXVI Winter Universiade, was a winter multi-sport event which took place in Trentino, Italy between 11 and 21 December 2013.
