Ivan Anastasov
Ivan Anastasov ( bg, Иван Анастасов) was a Greek revolutionary, a worker of the Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organization (IMARO). He was nicknamed Grcheto (''the little Greek''), because of his ethnic Greek heritage. Biography Ivan Anastasov was born in 1880 in town of Melnik, in today's Blagoevgrad Province, Bulgaria (then part of the Ottoman Empire). He studied in the Greek and Bulgarian schools in his town and also in the Bulgarian Pedagogical School in Serres, where he finished two years of schooling. In 1899 he became a teacher of the Bulgarian Exarchate in the village of Igumenets, Petrich region. He entered the revolutionary organisation IMARO in 1900. At first, he was a member of the revolutionary band of Kostadin Zelnikov. In November 1900 he met Gotse Delchev in the village of Monospitovo. Melnik, Bulgaria
Melnik ( bg, Мелник , el, Μελένικο, ''Meleniko'') is a town in Blagoevgrad Province, Southwestern Bulgaria, in the Southwestern Pirin Mountains, about 440 m above sea level. The town is an architectural reserve and 96 of its buildings are cultural monuments. With a population of 385, it is the smallest town in Bulgaria, retaining its town status today for historical reasons. It is situated on the foothills of the Pirin mountain range and is overlooked by the Melnik Earth Pyramids. Demir Hisar ( mk, Демир Хисар), is an area spreading on the South West part of Macedonia to the North West of the Pelagonian plain, around the river flow of the Black River (''Crna Reka'') with her inflows. The greater parts of the surrounding area of Demir Hisar are smaller hills and mountains, and a small part which is spread around the mentioned river is low lands.
