Each Province is divided into dioceses; there were 76 dioceses in Nigeria, each with a bishop. Each Archbishop is also the bishop of one of the dioceses in his Province. The pre-eminent Archbishop, The Primate of All Nigeria, is chosen from the Archbishops, and becomes Bishop of Abuja. The Primate in 2000 was Peter Akinola, who served from 2000 to 2010. The Church of Nigeria is the Anglicanism, Anglican Church body, church in Nigeria. It is the second-largest Province (Anglican), province in the Anglican Communion, as measured by baptised membership (not by attendance), after the Church of England. it gives its membership as "over 18 million", out of a total Nigerian population of 190 million. It is "effectively the largest province in the Communion." As measured by active membership, the Church of Nigeria has nearly 2 million active baptised members. According to a study published by ''Cambridge University Press'' in the ''Journal of Anglican Studies'', there are between 4.94 and 11.74 million Anglicans in Nigeria. Jacob Ajetunmobi
Jacob Ademola Ajetunmobi (June 1948 – 14 December 2020) was a Nigerian Anglican bishop. He was the first bishop of the Diocese of Ibadan South from 1999 to 2018. Ajetunmobi was born in 1948 in Ogbagi-Akoko in Western Nigeria to a chief who was a polygamist and to a princess from a neighbouring tribe. After his school education, he started studying agriculture at the School of Agriculture in Akure, but, having become a Christian at a Scripture Union camp in 1966, he gave up agriculture studies and enrolled in the Igbaja Seminary, run by the Sudan Interior Mission. Maxwell Anikwenwa was an Anglican bishop in Nigeria. Anikwenwa was born in Oyi in 1940; and educated at Trinity Theological College, Umuahia. Gabriel Akinbolarin Akinbiyi was born on the 5th of December, 1949. He married Mrs Stella A. Akinbiyi sometime between 1956-1961, he went to St John's Anglican school oke Igbo and later on went to local authority modern school oke Igbo, during 1962-1964. Afterwards he went to diocesan training centre, wusasa Zaria (D.T.C) in 1975-1976. He was the Bishop of Akoko in the Anglican province of Ondo in the Church of Nigeria until 2019.
