Itsandra was one of the two major sultanates on the island of Grand Comore before the French colonization of the Comoros. Sultanates
Sultan (; ar, سلطان ', ) is a position with several historical meanings. Originally, it was an Arabic abstract noun meaning "strength", "authority", "rulership", derived from the verbal noun ', meaning "authority" or "power". Later, it came to be used as the title of certain rulers who claimed almost full sovereignty (i.e., not having dependence on any higher ruler) without claiming the overall caliphate, or to refer to a powerful governor of a province within the caliphate. Anjouan
Anjouan (; also known as Ndzuwani or Nzwani, and historically as Johanna or Hinzuan) is an autonomous high island in the Indian Ocean that forms part of the Union of the Comoros. History Early and colonial history The first inhabitants of the island were explorers and immigrants from Indonesia and Polynesia. After that Bantu people arrived. Then people all around the Indian Ocean began to come to Anjouan and the Comoro Islands.
