Italy National Badminton Team
The Italy national badminton team ( it, Nazionale Italiana di badminton) represents Italy in international badminton team competitions and is controlled by the Italian Badminton Federation ( Italian: ''Federazione Italiana Badminton''). The Italian national team competed in the Sudirman Cup but have never once qualified for the Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup. The national team competed in the European Men's and Women's Team Badminton Championships and the European Mixed Team Badminton Championships but have never got pass the group stage. The Italian team also competed in the Mediterranean Games and has won a few medals in badminton at the Games. 2005 Sudirman Cup
The 2005 Sudirman Cup was the 9th tournament of the World Mixed Team Badminton Championships of Sudirman Cup. It was held from May 10 to May 15, 2005 in Beijing, China. Host city selection Beijing and Glasgow submitted bids for the competition. Beijing was confirmed as the host during 2003 IBF council meeting in Eindhoven. Teams 41 teams around the world took part in this tournament. Geographically, they were 22 from Europe, 13 teams from Asia, 3 from Americas, two from Oceania and one from Africa. This edition also saw the expansion of Group 1 to 8 teams. The 2009 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships were held at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England, from 10-15 February, and were organised by the Badminton Europe and the Badminton England. It was the 20th edition of the tournament. Denmark was the defending champion. This is the first edition of European Mixed Team Badminton Championships which is not held together with the individual European Championships.
