Italy In The Eurovision Song Contest 2015
Italy participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Grande amore", written by Ciro Esposito and Francesco Boccia. The song was performed by the male operatic pop trio Il Volo. Italian broadcaster RAI announced in September 2014 that the winning performer(s) of the Sanremo Music Festival 2015 would have the right to represent the nation at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria. The selected performer would also be given the right to choose their own song to compete with at Eurovision. In February 2015, Il Volo emerged as the winners of Sanremo with the song "Grande amore". The Sanremo Music Festival 2015 (''65° Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo 2015'') was the 65th annual Sanremo Music Festival, a television song contest held at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo, Liguria, between 10 and 14 February 2015 and broadcast by Rai 1. The show was presented by two previous winners of the festival, singers Arisa and Emma, along with Spanish television presenter and model Rocío Muñoz Morales, and director of the show Carlo Conti. "Follia d'amore" is a song by Raphael Gualazzi. It was the winner of the Sanremo Music Festival 2011 in the newcomer artists' section and also won the Critics' "Mia Martini" Award for newcomers. Anna Tatangelo (born 9 January 1987) is an Italian pop singer and television personality. At the age of 15, she became the youngest person to win the Newcomer's Award at the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival singing contest. Alessandro "Alex" Britti (born 23 August 1968) is an Italian singer-songwriter and guitarist. Biography When he was 17, he started his first band, playing blues at clubs in Rome, and eventually moved to Milan. In 1989 he established the Alex Britti Blues Band. He has worked with Buddy Miles, Billy Preston, Louisiana Red and has toured Europe with Rosa King. In the mid-1990s, he toured with Francesco De Gregori. "Gente di mare" ("People of the sea") was the entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1987, performed in Italian by Umberto Tozzi & Raf. The song is a blues-influenced ballad, in which the singers describe the qualities of the "people of the sea".
