Italian South African
Italian South Africans ( it, Italo-sudafricani) are South Africans who have full or partial Italian ancestry. They are primarily descended from Italians who emigrated to South Africa during the late 19th century and early 20th century. Language and religion Most Italian South Africans, like other South Africans, are Christians. The majority of them are Roman Catholics although there is a Protestant minority. All the remaining first-generation Italian South Africans speak Italian and also English or other South African languages as second language. The Italian South Africans of the new generations are assimilated into South African society, and most of them speak mainly English as first language with a handful that speak Afrikaans and Zulu but still secondarily Italian (and sometimes French). Portuguese South African
Portuguese South Africans ( pt, luso-sul-africanos) are South Africans of Portuguese ancestry. The exact figure of how many people in South Africa are Portuguese or of Portuguese descent are not accurately known as many people who arrived during the pre-1994 era quickly assimilated into English and Afrikaner speaking South African communities. There was likely also an undercount of immigrants, especially from Madeira. Giulio Giuricich
Giulio Giuricich (born 5 February 1990 in Johannesburg, Gauteng) is a South African footballer, who last played as a left-back for Moroka Swallows in the Premier Soccer League. Career Giuricich left his native South Africa at the age of 18 and joined the land of his forefathers, Italy. He joined to Serie A Side US Sassuolo Calcio on trial, but he failed a contract and signed a half-year loan deal with Serie C club AC Montichiari. In his two years with AC Montichiari, Giuricich played two games and moved in summer 2010 to League rival AC Castellana. He played three games in the Serie D with AC Castellana and signed in winter 2011 with S.G. Gallaratese. He signed for Swallows during the 2012–13 season, after a successful month-long trial. Carlo Del Fava
Carlo Antonio Del Fava (born 1 July 1981) is a South African-born Italian former rugby union player. His preferred position was Lock. After hanging his boots up he then decided to take up coaching. Del Fava was born in Mthatha, South Africa to Italian parents. Rugby career Del Fava made his Italy debut in the 2004 Six Nations Championship. Previously he played for the South African under-21 team. While playing rugby in South Africa, Del Fava served a two-year ban after testing positive for the banned substance stanozolol. He was called up to the Italy squad for the 2008 Six Nations Championship. On 10 February 2014, it was announced Del Fava had been forced to retire due to a long-standing neck injury. Oscar Pistorius
Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius (; ; born 22 November 1986) is a South African convicted murderer and former professional sprinter. Both of his feet were amputated when he was 11 months old owing to a congenital defect; he was born missing the outside of both feet and both fibulae. Pistorius ran in both nondisabled sprint events and in sprint events for below-knee amputees. He was the 10th athlete to compete at both the Paralympic Games and Olympic Games. After becoming a Paralympic champion, Pistorius attempted to enter nondisabled international competitions, over persistent objections by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and arguments that his artificial limbs gave an unfair advantage. Zulu (), or isiZulu as an endonym, is a Southern Bantu language of the Nguni branch spoken in Southern Africa.
