Italian Music Awards
The Italian Music Awards were an accolade established in 2001 by the Federation of the Italian Music Industry to recognize the achievements in the Italian music business both by domestic and international artists. The awards were given by an academy composed of 400 people, including music publishers, journalists, deejays, music producers, managers, retailers and consumers. The first Italian Music Awards ceremony was held on 5 February 2001, to honor musical accomplishments for the period between 1 December 1999 and 30 November 2000, while the fourth and last awards ceremony was held on 15 December 2003. The fifth edition of the awards was initially scheduled to be held in the end of 2004, but after being postponed in February 2004 and then in the Spring of 2004, it was canceled due to the lack of a broadcast agreement with the Italian TV networks. Tricarico (singer)
Francesco Maria Tricarico (Milan, 1 February 1971), better known under the mononym Tricarico, is an Italian singer-songwriter. Tricarico is mainly known for his top-five hits "Io sono Francesco", released in 2000, and "Vita tranquilla", which was launched during the Sanremo Music Festival 2008. Music career Tricarico rose to fame in 2000, when he released his debut single, "Io sono Francesco", which hit number one in Italy, selling more than 60,000 copies and generating some controversy following its lyrical content, which included an insult to a school teacher and was therefore censored by some radio stations. Eiffel 65 is an Italian music group that was formed in 1997 in the studios of the Turin record company Bliss Corporation, consisting of Jeffrey Jey, Maurizio Lobina and Gabry Ponte. They gained global popularity with their singles " Blue (Da Ba Dee)" and " Move Your Body" from their 1999 studio album ''Europop''. Alessandro "Alex" Britti (born 23 August 1968) is an Italian singer-songwriter and guitarist. Biography When he was 17, he started his first band, playing blues at clubs in Rome, and eventually moved to Milan. In 1989 he established the Alex Britti Blues Band. He has worked with Buddy Miles, Billy Preston, Louisiana Red and has toured Europe with Rosa King. In the mid-1990s, he toured with Francesco De Gregori.
