It Tiz Well (foaled April 30, 2014 ) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2017 Cotillion Handicap. Career It Tiz Well's first race was on October 28, 2016, at Santa Anita, where she came in third. She picked up her first win on December 18, 2016, in her second race. She competed in her first graded race, the Grade-2 Santa Ynez Stakes, on January 8, 2017, where he came in second place. He picked up a victory the next month in a claiming race at Santa Anita on February 3, 2017. On March 11, 2017, she picked up her first stakes win when he won the 2017 Honeybee Stakes. She placed in third at the April 8th, 2017 Santa Anita Oaks and in fourth at the June 17th, 2017 Summertime Oaks. On July 8, 2017, she picked up a win at the Grade-3 Delaware Oaks, and followed it up with a second-place finish at the August 19th, 2017 Alabama Stakes. Arch (horse)
Arch (January 31, 1995 – January 20, 2016) was a Kentucky-bred race horse and sire. He was a son of Kris S. and Aurora (by Danzig). Arch won the Grade 1 Super Derby and sired many notable stakes winners. Race career Arch had a short but productive racing career. On his first outing during his two-year-old season, he broke his maiden by a length and a half. Frank Brothers brought Arch back as a three-year-old in April to win an allowance race. He was then put on a four-month break to prepare for his stakes debut. After two more allowance races (in which he came in second and first), he was entered in the Super Derby at Louisiana Downs. Danzig (February 12, 1977 – January 4, 2006) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who is best known as a leading sire. He was purchased for $310,000 (equivalent to $ million in ) by Henryk de Kwiatkowski at the 1978 Saratoga Yearling Sale. The son of Hall of Famer Northern Dancer and the most commercially successful sire of the second half of the 20th century, he won all three of his races before knee problems ended his racing career. Stud record Danzig was retired to stand at stud at Claiborne Farm near Paris, Kentucky, where he became one of the world's most important sires. Alydar
Alydar (March 23, 1975 – November 15, 1990) was an American Thoroughbred race horse and sire. A chestnut colt, he was most famous for finishing a close second to Affirmed in all three races of the 1978 Triple Crown. With each successive race, Alydar narrowed Affirmed's margin of victory; Affirmed won by 1.5 lengths in the Kentucky Derby, by a neck in the Preakness and by a head in the Belmont Stakes. Alydar has been described as the best horse in the history of Thoroughbred racing never to have won a championship. Alydar's fame continued when he got older. He died under suspicious circumstances. Northern Dancer (May 27, 1961 – November 16, 1990) was a Thoroughbred who, in 1964, became the first Canadian-bred horse to win the Kentucky Derby. Princequillo (1940–1964) was a Thoroughbred racehorse conceived in France and born in Ireland. He is known for his performances in long-distance races and his successes as a sire. Background His sire, Prince Rose, stood at the Haras de Cheffreville stud farm in France and was mated to the mare Cosquilla. When World War II broke out, the pregnant mare was shipped to Ireland, where she gave birth to Princequillo. Considering the danger from German bombing and the likelihood there would be no racing for some considerable time, Cosquilla's owners shipped her and her colt to the United States. Hail to Reason (April 18, 1958 – February 24, 1976) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse and an influential sire. In a racing career cut short by injury, he was named the American Champion Two-Year-Old Colt of 1960 after winning seven stakes races including the Hopeful Stakes. Alabama Stakes
The Alabama Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race open to three-year-old fillies. Inaugurated in 1872, the Grade I race is run over a distance of one and one-quarter miles on the dirt track at Saratoga Race Course. Held in mid August, it currently offers a purse of $600,000. In 2010 it became the third leg of the American Triple Tiara of Thoroughbred Racing, after the Acorn Stakes and Coaching Club American Oaks. The Alabama Stakes is named in honor of William Cottrell of Mobile, Alabama. "Alabama" was the name settled on because Cottrell was too modest to have a race named for him personally.
