It Happened In Hollywood
''It Happened in Hollywood'' is a 1937 American comedy film directed by Harry Lachman and starring Richard Dix, Fay Wray and Victor Kilian. The arrival of sound wrecks the career of a leading western actor while his leading lady rises to new heights. Its original working title was ''Once a Hero''. Plot Tim Bart ( Dix) is a Hollywood cowboy hero of the silent films, with his co-star and girlfriend Gloria Gay ( Wray ). During a publicity trip, he ends up at a children's hospital where he meets Billy, a young fan about to have surgery. He promises Billy that Billy can come out to Hollywood to visit once he gets well. During this time, talking movies start being made, and many silent stars do not make it in talkies. Harry Lachman
Harry B. Lachman (June 29, 1886 – March 19, 1975) was an American artist, set designer, and film director. He was born in La Salle, Illinois on June 29, 1886. Lachman was educated at the University of Michigan before becoming a magazine and book illustrator, contributing 4 colour illustrations to the 1907 work ''John Smith, Gentleman Adventurer'' by Charles Harcourt Ainslie Forbes-Lindsay. In 1911, he emigrated to Paris where he earned a substantial reputation as a Post-Impressionist painter and was awarded the Légion d'Honneur by the French government. Lachman's interest in motion pictures stemmed from his position as a set designer in Nice, leading to work on ''Mare Nostrum'' in 1925. He worked as a director in France and England before settling in Hollywood in 1933. Harold Goodwin (December 1, 1902 – July 12, 1987) was an American actor who performed in over 225 films. Biography Goodwin began his film career at age 12. Goodwin's first starring role came in ''Oliver Twist, Jr.'' (1921). He also appeared as Jeff Brown in the 1927 Buster Keaton comedy ''College (1927 film), College''. Edgar Dearing (May 4, 1893 – August 17, 1974) was an American actor who became heavily type cast as a motorcycle cop in Hollywood films. Biography Born in 1893, Dearing started in silent comedy shorts for Hal Roach, including several with Laurel and Hardy, notably in their classic '' Two Tars'', probably his best ever screen role.
