''It Happened in Paris'', is a 1919 American silent drama crime film, directed by David Hartford and Richard Gordon Matzene. There are no known archival holdings of the film, so it is presumably a lost film. The film was a commercial failure. Rose Dione
Claudine Rosalie Gras (1 January 1877 – 1 January 1936), professionally known as Rose Dione, was a French-American actress who appeared in numerous silent era and pre-code films. She appeared in more than 60 films between 1910 and 1932. She was born in Dardilly, Rhône in France, and died in Los Angeles, California. She was probably best known for her final role as Madame Tetrallini in the film ''Freaks'' (1932). Hayward Mack
Hayward Seaton Mack (March 20, 1882 – December 24, 1921) was an American actor of the silent era. Born in Albany, New York, in 1882, Mack appeared in more than 80 films between 1910 and 1921. Mack's motion picture career began in 1910; he appeared in films of many leading motion picture companies of the time. He had also worked in vaudeville and in stage productions. Before embarking on an entertainment career Mack was a civil engineer and also worked as a newspaper man. Charles Gunn (actor)
Charles E. Gunn (July 31, 1883 – December 6, 1918) was an American silent film actor with the Vitagraph Company of America. Gunn was born in Wisconsin but was educated in San Francisco after his family moved to California. After debuting in a bit part in a play in San Francisco, Gunn acted on stage with the Harry Davis, Morosco, and Alcazar stock theater troupes, and was the leading man for theatrical companies in Cincinnati, Minneapolis, and Pittsburgh. He also toured in productions of ''St. Elmo'' and ''The Conspiracy''. On December 6, 1918, Gunn died in Los Angeles in the Spanish flu pandemic. Richard Gordon Matzene
Richard Gordon Matzene, born Jens Rudolph Matzene, (c. 1875-1950) was a European-born American photographer and art dealer. He took many portrait photographs of members of high society. Early life Matzene was born circa 1875 in Europe, either in Denmark, Hungary or in England. He took the title of Count, although there is no evidence that he was one. Career Matzene became a portrait photographer for members of high society in Chicago in 1900. He moved to Syracuse, New York and opened an art gallery in New York City in 1909. After he went bankrupt in 1911, Matzene moved to Los Angeles, California, where he became a photographer for Hollywood actors and actresses. With David Hartford, he co-directed ''It Happened in Paris'', a 1919 film starring Madame Yorska. In 1920, he took portrait photographs of women from Montana, and they were published in ''The Anaconda Standard'', the main newspaper in Anaconda, Montana. A lost film is a feature or short film that no longer exists in any studio archive, private collection, public archive or the U.S. Library of Congress. Conditions During most of the 20th century, U.S. copyright law required at least one copy of every American film to be deposited at the Library of Congress at the time of copyright registration, but the Librarian of Congress was not required to retain those copies: "Under the provisions of the act of March 4, 1909, authority is granted for the return to the claimant of copyright of such copyright deposits as are not required by the Library."
