István Varga (politician, Born 1953)
István Varga (born 18 October 1953) is a Hungarian lawyer and politician, member of the National Assembly (MP) from 1994 to 2002, and from 2010 to 2014. Political career He joined Hungarian Democratic Forum (MDF) in 1988, and served as President of the party's Békés County branch between 1992 and 2002. He was a local representative in the Assembly of Orosháza from 1990 to 1994, and functioned as head of the MDF group. He was elected MP from the party's Békés County Regional List in the 1994 parliamentary election. He became a member of the Committee on Environmental Protection (1994–1995), and the Committee on Immunity, Incompatibility, and Mandate (1994–2002). He was delegated to the Presidium of the Hungarian Democratic Forum in 1996. He was elected MP for Orosháza (Békés County Constituency VI) during the 1998 parliamentary election. The National Assembly ( hu, Országgyűlés, lit=Country Assembly) is the parliament of Hungary. The unicameral body consists of 199 (386 between 1990 and 2014) members elected to 4-year terms. Election of members is done using a semi-proportional representation: a mixed-member majoritarian representation with partial scorporo, compensation via transfer votes and mixed single vote; involving single-member districts and one list vote; parties must win at least 5% of the popular vote in order to gain list seats assembly. Orosháza
Orosháza is a city situated in the westernmost part of Békés county, Hungary, on the Békés ridge bordered by the rivers Maros and Körös. Orosháza is an important cultural, educational and recreational centre of the region. Main sights The city's main attractions are the Orosháza-Gyopárosfürdő spa complex, the Szántó Kovács János Museum, the Darvas József Literary Memorial House, and the Town Art Gallery. The only museum in the country devoted to water wells is found in Orosháza. At the Rágyánszky Arboretum, more than 2000 plant species in 6000 varieties can be seen.
