Istanbul Shield
The Istanbul Shield ( tr, İstanbul Şildi) was a football tournament for Istanbul clubs in Turkey which was organised between 1930 and 1939. At the beginning it was decided that the club which would win the most titles during the nine-year span would be the final owner of the shield. The final match between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe in 1931 was not played. In 1932, Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş did not participate and İstanbulspor won the shield. In 1933 the semi-final game was cancelled due to the abusive behavior of Fenerbahçe fans when their team was leading 2–0. Galatasaray won the repeated game by 1–0. İstanbulspor is a Turkish football and sports club founded by Istanbul High School students in 1926. In 2004–05 they were relegated from the Turkish Süper Lig (Super League) to TFF 1. Lig. For many decades it was the fourth most famous and well-developed professional football club from Istanbul, coming after Beşiktaş, Galatasaray, and Fenerbahçe. Vefa is part of the district of Fatih in Istanbul, and lies inside what was once the old walled city of Constantinople. It lies roughly northwest of the eastern section of the Aqueduct of Valens, and is rich in monuments, both Byzantine and Ottoman. It takes its name from the Muslim saint (wali) Shaykh Ebu’l Vefa who is buried locally in his own mosque and dergah. Beykoz (), also known as Beicos and Beikos, is a district in Istanbul, Turkey at the northern end of the Bosphorus on the Anatolian side. The name is believed to be a combination of the words bey and ''kos'', which means "village" in Farsi.
