The İstanbul Paten Kulübü (literally: "Istanbul Skating Club") is an ice hockey sports club established 1987 in Istanbul, Turkey. The team participates in the Turkish Hockey SuperLig (TBHSL). Galleria Ice Rink
Galleria Ice Rink ( tr, Galleria Buz Pisti) is an indoor ice skating and ice hockey rink located within the Galleria Ataköy shopping center located in Bakırköy district of Istanbul, Turkey. It was opened in 1989. The rink is run by the company "Galleria Buz Pateni Pisti", a subsidiary of the shopping mall. The venue hosts all kinds of ice sports events in Istanbul including Turkish ice hockey leagues for men's, women's and junior's. It is home to the ice hockey club Istanbul Paten Kulübü. By April 2010, the director general of the Galleria shopping mall announced that the ice rink will be closed to make space for additional recreational places and new stores within the renovation project of the shopping mall. Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. The Turkish Ice Hockey Super League ( tr, Türkiye Buz Hokeyi Süper Ligi, abbreviated TBHSL) is the highest level of professional ice hockey in Turkey. It is operated under the jurisdiction of the Turkish Ice Hockey Federation, a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. Unlike the National Hockey League, the Super League is not divided into conferences; teams compete in a single division. The league currently consists of six teams, from two cities. Bakırköy is a neighbourhood, municipality and district on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey. The quarter is densely populated, has a residential character and is inhabited by an upper middle class population.
