Israel National Under-20 Basketball Team
The Israeli national under-20 basketball team represents the country in various FIBA youth tournaments. It usually competes in the FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, and used to compete in the now defunct FIBA Under-21 World Championship. This team was originally the Israeli Under-22 national team, until the FIBA Europe Under-22 Championship was changed into an Under-20 age tournament. Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Therefore, Hapoel became a member of SASI in 1927 and later was a member of CSIT. FIBA U20 European Championship
The FIBA U20 European Championship, previously known as the European Championship for Men '22 and Under', is a men's youth basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1992 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, 1992 edition. Through the 2004 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, 2004 edition, it was held biennially, but since 2005 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, 2005 edition, it is held every year. Yoav Shamir ( he, יואב שמיר), is an Israeli documentary filmmaker most noted for the films '' Checkpoint'' and ''Defamation''. Personal life Yoav Shamir was born in Tel Aviv in 1970. A ninth-generation Israeli from Tel Aviv, he is the son of two elementary school teachers. He graduated from Tel Aviv University with a BA in History and philosophy.
