Israel In The Eurovision Song Contest 1999
At the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, Israel was represented by Israeli band Eden with the song "Yom Huledet (Happy Birthday)". The Israeli entry for the 1999 contest in Jerusalem was announced on 17 January 1999, having been selected internally by an expert committee assembled by the country's public broadcasting service IBA. Israel was drawn to compete nineteenth in the contest, held on 29 May 1999. At the end of the night, the nation placed 5th in the field of 23 entries, receiving 93 points. Before Eurovision Internal selection 900 songs were submitted by the public, which were subsequently evaluated by a special committee that shortlisted four songs. On 17 January 1999, IBA announced that Eden were selected as the Israeli representatives for the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with the song "Yom Huledet". Eden (Israeli Band)
Eden ( he, עדן) were an Israeli vocal group active between 1996 and 2001, consisting of Doron Oren, Rafael Dahan and brothers Gabriel and Eddie Butler. They are known primarily for their participation in the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest. Eden were chosen by internal selection to represent Israel in the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest with the song " Yom Huledet (Happy Birthday)". As a result of Dana International's Eurovision victory the previous year, the 1999 contest was held on their home ground in Jerusalem on 29 May, when "Yom Huledet (Birthday)" finished in a respectable fifth place of the 23 entries. Eden also recorded several music tracks for the Italian albums "The Long Road: Grandi Classici Per Viaggiare" and "California: The Best of West Coast Music Vol. 2" released in 2005. Sarit Hadad ( he, שרית חדד, ) (born on September 20, 1978) is an Israeli singer. In October 2009, the Israeli Music TV Channel (Channel 24) named Hadad "best female singer of the 2000s".
