Israel Painters And Sculptors Association
The Israel Painters and Sculptors Association was established in 1934 and has been associated with many painters and sculptors who worked in Israel. With the establishment of the State of Israel, the name of the association was changed to the "Association of Painters and Sculptors in Israel". In 2002, the name was changed again to "Painters and Sculptors Association ( Tel Aviv)" and three independent associations of painters and sculptors were established in Jerusalem, Haifa and Be'er Sheva. Hebrew Artists Association The association was founded in October 1920 by the Association of Hebrew Artists, in its committee were the following artists: Meir Gur-Arie, S. Ben-David, Abel Pann, Avraham Melnikov and Shmuel Opel. The aim of the association was to "develop and disseminate among the people the arts, the art work and taste and beauty in the Hebrew spirit." Tel Aviv Museum
Tel Aviv Museum of Art ( he, מוזיאון תל אביב לאמנות ''Muzeon Tel Aviv Leomanut'') is an art museum in Tel Aviv, Israel. The museum is dedicated to the preservation and display of modern and contemporary art from Israel and around the world. History The Tel Aviv Museum of Art was established in 1932 in a building that was the home of Tel Aviv's first mayor, Meir Dizengoff. The Helena Rubinstein Pavilion for Contemporary Art opened in 1959. Planning for a new building began in 1963 when the museum's collections of modern and contemporary art began to outgrow the premises. Construction commenced in 1966 but stopped for two years due to shortage of funds. The new museum moved to its current location on King Saul Avenue in 1971. Another wing was added in 1999 and the Lola Beer Ebner Sculpture Garden was established. Igor Zeiger , (born 1977) is an Uzbekistan-born Israeli Italian artist and curator. Biography Igor Zeiger was born in 1977 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan to Mark Zeiger, an engineer and Larisa Yavetz, schoolteacher. He graduated from Tashkent University of Information Technologies with master's degree in communications. Zeiger immigrated to Israel in 2000, living first in kibbutz Ramat Hashofet, then Rehovot and moving to Tel Aviv in 2011. Igor Zeiger spends his time alternately and works in Italy and Jaffa. Career Zeiger started with documentary photography as an autodidact. He studied in Studio Gavra School of Photography in class of Sagit Zluf Namir, graduating in 2012. Ruth Horam
Ruth Horam ( he, רות הורם; 2 – 1931 August 2021) was an Israeli painter and sculptor. Biography Ruth Horam was born in 1931 in Tel Aviv, Mandatory Palestine. She was a graduate of the Rehavia Gymnasium in Jerusalem and of Saint Martin's School of Art in London. In 1960, she won the UNESCO Prize for Painting, in Paris. She was married to Yehuda Horam, who served as Israeli ambassador to Switzerland. Between 1964 and 1967, she chaired the Jerusalem Association of Painters and Sculptors. In 1969 she travelled to Seoul, South Korea where she studied the art of calligraphy, returning to Israel in 1973. In 1983, she was Guest-Artist at 'Arabia' Ceramics in Finland. In 1996 she received the MASTO Foundation grant for Creativity. Horam was a resident of Jerusalem until her death on 2 August 2021. Ofakim Hadashim (, lit. "New Horizons") is an art movement started in Tel Aviv in 1942. New Horizons The Ofakim Hadashim art movement began with a group of artists who mounted an exhibition in Tel Aviv's Habima national theater in December 1942, under the name "The Group of Eight". The group evolved into a coherent artistic movement only after the founding of the state of Israel in 1948. Members of the school included Arie Aroch, Zvi Meirowitch, Avraham Naton (Natanson), Avigdor Stematsky and Yehezkel Streichman. The work of sculptor Dov Feigin also appeared in the catalog of the 1942 exhibition, though it was not displayed.
