Israel At The AFC Asian Cup
Israel competed at the AFC Asian Cup four times. In 1956 and 1960 Israel finished second, in Israel at the 1964 AFC Asian Cup, 1964 they finished first, and in 1968 they finished third. In Israel at the 1972 AFC Asian Cup, 1972 Israel qualified for the tournament as hosts but later withdrew. Israel was expelled from the Asian Football Confederation, AFC in the early 1970s and eventually became a member of UEFA. Hong Kong Stadium is the main sports venue of Hong Kong. Redeveloped from the old Government Stadium, it reopened as Hong Kong Stadium in March 1994. It has a maximum seating capacity of 40,000, including 18,260 at the main level, 3,173 at executive level, 18,510 upper-level seats and 57 seats for wheelchair users. Shaul Matania
Shaul Matania (8 March 1937 – 20 July 2017) was an Israeli footballer who played in defender positions. He played for Maccabi Tel Aviv and the Israel national team. Matania won the title Israeli Footballer of the Year for the 1961–62 season. Club career Matania started his football career in 1949, at the age of 12, when he joined the boys' team of Maccabi Tel Aviv. In 1953, when only 16, Matania joined the senior team. He was the defensive stronghold of the team for thirteen years. Matania scored four times in cup games, of which two goals were penalties, and once in a league game. On 22 June 1957, Matania scored an equalizing goal in the 119th minute, virtually at end of the extension of the national cup semifinals, after Shlomo Nahari had shot Hapoel Petah Tikva to 2–1 in the 98th minute. Ya'akov Hodorov
Ya'akov "Yankele" Hodorov (Hebrew: יעקב חודורוב) (16 June 1927 – 31 December 2006) was an Israeli football goalkeeper in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. He is one Israel's best goalkeepers of all time and the leading goalkeeper of his generation. Football career Hodorov started his football career at Maccabi Rishon LeZion at the age of 15. After a few years, he moved to local rival Hapoel Rishon LeZion, where he first got national recognition as the team reached the cup final in 1946. Albert Henry Gibbons (10 April 1914 – 4 July 1984) was an English professional footballer and manager who played in the Football League for Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford and Bradford Park Avenue.
