Ismism
''Ismism'' is the fourth studio album by English duo Godley & Creme, released in October 1981 by Polydor Records. In the US it was released under the name ''Snack Attack''. It was recorded between April–May 1980 at Lymehouse Studios in Leatherhead, Surrey and engineered and re-mixed at Nigel Gray's Surrey Sound Studios. ''Ismism'' peaked at No. 29 on the UK Albums Chart and at No. 28 on the Dutch Albums Chart, making it their best-selling studio album. Three singles were released from the album: "Under Your Thumb", " Wedding Bells" and "Snack Attack", with the first two singles charting within the Top 10 on the UK Singles Chart. ''Ismism'' was reissued on CD in 2004 under ''Ismism... Plus'' name (with other Godley & Creme albums) with singles' B-sides as bonus tracks. "Wedding Bells" is a song written and recorded by English duo Godley & Creme, released as the second single from their fourth studio album, '' Ismism'' (1981). The single peaked at No. 7 on the UK Singles Chart in December 1981. The single's B-side, "Babies", a synth-pop song, was later included as a bonus track on the double CD compilation ''Freeze Frame...Plus + Ismism...Plus'', released in the UK in 2004, and on a 2006 Japanese reissue of ''Ismism''. Godley & Creme were an English rock duo formally established in Manchester in 1977 by Kevin Godley and Lol Creme. The pair began releasing music as a duo after their departure from the rock band 10cc. In 1979, they directed their first music video with the single "An Englishman in New York". After this, they became involved in the production of videos for artists such as Ultravox, the Police, Yes, Duran Duran, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Wang Chung, as well as directing the groundbreaking video for their 1985 single "Cry". The duo split at the end of the 1980s. Both have since been involved in music videos, TV commercials, and sporadic music projects. ''Birds of Prey'' is the fifth studio album by English duo Godley & Creme, released on 5 April 1983 by Polydor Records. It was recorded at Lymehouse Studios in Leatherhead, Surrey and engineered and re-mixed at Nigel Gray's Surrey Sound Studios. Despite the success of their previous studio album '' Ismism'' (1981), ''Birds of Prey'' failed to chart. Two singles were released from the album: "Save a Mountain for Me" and "Samson", both of which also failed to chart. Critical reception In a retrospective review for AllMusic, critic Dave Thompson deemed the album "the least successful inclusion in the Godley & Creme catalog", and called it "a major disappointment". ''Freeze Frame'' is the third album by Godley & Creme. The album was recorded at Nigel Gray's Surrey Sound Studios, Leatherhead, Surrey. The cover art, designed by Hipgnosis, identifies the duo as 'Godley Creme'. Content This album made use of a couple of technical innovations which gave it a unique sound. "I Pity Inanimate Objects" contained a distinctive vocal treatment in which the notes are seemingly obtained by altering the pitch of pre-recorded voices.
