Islanders FC is a British Virgin Islands football club based in Tortola, competing in the BVIFA National League, the top tier of British Virgin Islands football. British Virgin Islands Championship
The BVIFA National Football League is the highest competitive football league in the British Virgin Islands. The league was founded in 2009 after the merger between the Tortola League and the Virgin Gorda League. In 2012 the league decided to split the teams into two groups, based on the position they finished in the standings at the end of the 2011-12 season. The majority of matches in the league are held at the national stadium, the 1,500-capacity A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground, based in Road Town, Tortola. Matches are also held on the island of Virgin Gorda. 2021 BVIFA National Football League
The 2021 BVIFA National Football League was the 11th season of the competition. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the British Virgin Islands, the competition did not begin until 14 February 2021, and concluded on 5 September 2021. Sugar Boys won the competition, making it their second British Virgin Islands title won, defeating Lion Heart in the two-legged final. Tortola () is the largest and most populated island of the British Virgin Islands, a group of islands that form part of the archipelago of the Virgin Islands. Football In The British Virgin Islands
Association football – commonly known as football (or soccer in the United States and Canada) – is a popular sport in the British Virgin Islands. The British Virgin Islands Football Association – the territory's football governing body – organizes the men's and women's national teams and administers the territory's professional league the BVIFA National Football League. As members of Caribbean Football Union teams are eligible for the Caribbean Club Championship and the territory's membership in CONCACAF allows teams to participate in that organizations club and national team competitions.
