Island Creek Township is one of the fourteen townships of Jefferson County, Ohio, United States. The 2020 census found 10,173 people in the township. Geography Located in the eastern part of the county along the Ohio River, it borders the following townships and city: * Knox Township - north *Steubenville - southeast * Cross Creek Township - south * Wayne Township - southwest corner * Salem Township - west * Ross Township - northwest corner West Virginia lies across the Ohio River to the east: Hancock County to the northeast, and Brooke County to the southeast. Wintersville is a village in central Jefferson County, Ohio. The population was 3,609 as of the 2020 Census. It is part of the Weirton–Steubenville metropolitan area. The village is suburban in nature and is governed by a mayor and council elected by non-partisan ballot. History The first settlement at Wintersville was made in 1831. Toronto is a city in eastern Jefferson County, Ohio, located along the Ohio River 6 miles northeast of Steubenville. The population was 5,303 at the time of the 2020 census, making it the second-largest city in Jefferson County. It is part of the Weirton–Steubenville metropolitan area. Brooke County, West Virginia
Brooke County is a county in the Northern Panhandle of the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 22,559. Its county seat is Wellsburg. The county was created in 1797 from part of Ohio County and named in honor of Robert Brooke, Governor of Virginia from 1794 to 1796.
