Islamic Republic of Iran Cricket Association is the governing body for cricket in Iran. In 2017, it became an associate member of the International Cricket Council. Administration Pre-2010 Prior to 2010, Cricket did not have its own independent governing body, it was administered together with Baseball and Softball. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. When ten batters have been dismissed, the innings ends and the teams swap roles. The game is adjudicated by two umpires, aided by a third umpire and match referee ... The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the world governing body of cricket. Asian Cricket Council
The Asian Cricket Council also known as ACC is a cricket organisation which was established in 1983, to promote and develop the sport of cricket in Asia. Subordinate to the International Cricket Council, the council is the continent's regional administrative body, and currently consists of 26 member associations. Jay Shah is the current president of Asian Cricket Council. History The council was formed as the Asian Cricket Conference in New Delhi, India, on 19 September 1983, with the original members being Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. ICC Members
The International Cricket Council (ICC) was founded at Lord's on 15 June 1909 as the Imperial Cricket Conference, with Australia, England, and South Africa as its founding members. In the beginning, only countries within the Commonwealth could join. India, New Zealand and the West Indies joined in 1926, and Pakistan joined in 1953. In 1961, South Africa resigned from the Conference due to their leaving the Commonwealth, but they continued to play Test cricket until their international exile in 1970. The Imperial Cricket Conference was renamed the International Cricket Conference in 1965, with new rules permitting countries from outside the Commonwealth to be elected into the governing body for the first time: Fiji and the USA became the first Associate Member nations that year. Iqbal Sikander
Mohammad Iqbal Sikander (born December 19, 1958, in Karachi, Sindh), is a former Pakistani cricketer who played four One Day Internationals (ODI), all of them in the 1992 Cricket World Cup and was part of the Pakistan squad that won it, but he was never selected again for Pakistan in either Tests or ODIs. In January 1991, playing for Karachi Whites against Peshawar in a one-day match, he recorded the extraordinary bowling analysis of 6.2–3–7–7; no other cricketer has ever taken seven wickets in a List A game for the cost of fewer runs. Iqbal spent a lot of time in English league cricket, this included several seasons playing for Tonge Cricket Club in the Bolton Cricket League where he took a competition record 133 wickets in 1995. Cricket In Iran
Cricket in Iran is a fledgling sport growing in popularity, especially with youth and women. The Under-16's promoted to and participated at the ACC U-16 Elite Cup in 2012 followed by a participation at the 2014 event. Women's national team promoted to and participated at the ACC Women's Premier Cup in 2014. Iran's playing season runs from September to April. There are 25 cricket clubs.
