Islam Democrats
The Islam Democrats (ID) () is an Islamic democratic political party in the Netherlands which currently has no seats in the Hague council as of 2022 Dutch municipal elections. History Origin After obtaining the council seat in The Hague, the ID participated in the parliamentary elections of 2006 in the List 21 in the electorals of The Hague, Leiden, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Arnhem, Tilburg and Dordrecht. ID then got 4,339 votes with no representation in parliament. In November 2006, the Islam Democrats filed a complaint against the One NL, after party leader Marco Pastors had compared the Islamization of the Netherlands with the rise of the Nazis in the 1930s in a radio commercial just before the elections to the House of Representatives. Pastors had indicated in an ad that, in his opinion, the establishment looked the other way in the 1930s when the National Socialists emerged, and that the same is now happening with Islamization. Islamic Democracy
There exist a number of perspectives on the relationship of Islam and democracy among Islamic political theorists, the general Muslim public, and Western authors. In 2021, a number of Muslim majority countries are Islamic and secular democracies. One NL
Eén NL (One NL) is a Dutch political party founded in September 2006. It took part in the 2006 Dutch election under the leadership of Marco Pastors and Joost Eerdmans, but a dismal election result leaves the political future of the party quite uncertain. The party is seen as one of the political heirs of the late Pim Fortuyn. The ''Eén'' in the name ''Eén NL'', meaning 'one', emphasizes national unity where ''NL'' is the standard abbreviation of the Netherlands. Arnoud Van Doorn
Arnoud van Doorn (born 18 March 1966, in The Hague) is a politician. He was a member of the Dutch political party, Dutch Freedom Party (PVV), before converting to Islam. Political career Arnoud van Doorn used to be part of the PVV of Geert Wilders. In December 2011, the party broke with Van Doorn. He decided to become a Muslim a few months later and announced his conversion to Islam in April 2012. Soon after, he performed Hajj to Saudi Arabia and visited the Prophet's Mosque. He said that the overwhelming reaction of Muslims around the world against the film '' Fitna'' made him interested to learn more; all this led to his decision to convert to Islam. Provincial elections were held in the Netherlands, on 7 March 2007. The election also determined the members of the Senate, since the 564 members of the twelve provincial councils elect its 75 members. This election took place on 29 May 2007. Background Only a few weeks before the provincial elections, a new cabinet has been installed, the fourth Balkenende cabinet, consisting of the CDA, PvdA and CU. The provincial elections will be the first test for this new cabinet.
