Iskre
Iskre ( sr-cyr, Искре; English: ''The Sparks'') were a Yugoslav rock band formed in Belgrade in 1961. Iskre were one of Yugoslavia's earliest rock bands and are notable for being one of the pioneers of the Yugoslav rock scene. History 1961-1966 The band was officially formed in 1961 by the students of Belgrade's Second Gymnasium: Slavoljub Bogdanović (rhythm guitar), Miloš Sekulić (guitar), Gligorije Milanović (bass guitar), and Draško Reljin (drums), although the members of the band started to perform together two years earlier, performing on school parties on acoustic instruments. The band choose their name after Iskra amplifiers (originally designed for movie theaters) they used at the beginning of their career. Iskre started their career by playing instrumentals inspired by the music of The Tornados, Johnny and the Hurricanes, The Champs, The Coasters, The Drifters, Santo & Johnny, and soon achieved notable popularity. Diskos (record Label)
Diskos was a Yugoslav state-owned record label, founded in 1962 and based in Aleksandrovac, SR Serbia. Initially, Diskos published pop and rock music, publishing records by some of the pioneers of the Yugoslav rock scene, like Iskre, Siluete, Tomi Sovilj i Njegove Siluete, Sanjalice and Novi Fosili, and later moved mostly towards folk music. Dah (band)
Dah ( sr-cyr, Дах, trans. ''Breath'') was a Yugoslav and later Belgian progressive rock band formed in Belgrade in 1972. Dah was formed by guitarist Zlatko Manojlović and guitarist and vocalist Branko Marušić "Čutura", the two previously performing together in the band Džentlmeni. After the release of Dah's debut single in 1973, Marušić left the band, so Manojlović took the singing duties. After the release of their debut album, ''Veliki cirkus'' (1974), which brought the nationwide hit "Šošana", the band moved to Belgium, changing their name to Land. After spending a year in Belgium and having an international hit with the English language version of "Šošana", the band returned to Yugoslavia, where they released their second album, ''Povratak'' (1976). Dom Sindikata
Dom Sindikata (lit. Trade Union Hall), known as mts Hall for sponsorship reasons, is a non-residential, multi-purpose building in downtown Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Finished in 1957, by the 1970s it became the most popular entertainment venue in the city, nicknamed the Belgrade Olympia and later was adapted into the city's first multiplex. The building was declared a cultural monument in 2013. After the 2017-2018 reconstruction and the grand re-opening on 27 April 2018, it was officially renamed to "Kombank Hall" (''Kombank dvorana''). Santo & Johnny were an American rock and roll instrumental duo of Italian descent from Brooklyn, New York, composed of brothers Santo Farina (born October 24, 1937) and Johnny Farina (born April 30, 1941). The Drifters
The Drifters are several American doo-wop and R&B/soul vocal groups. They were originally formed as a backing group for Clyde McPhatter, formerly the lead tenor of Billy Ward and his Dominoes in 1953. The second group of Drifters, formed in 1959 and led by Ben E. King, were originally an up-and-coming group named The Five Crowns. After 1965 members drifted in and out of both groups and many of these formed other groups of Drifters as well. Several groups of Drifters can trace roots back to these original groups, but contain few if any original members. According to ''Rolling Stone'', the Drifters were the least stable of the great vocal groups, as they were low-paid musicians hired by George Treadwell, who owned the Drifters' name from 1955, after McPhatter left.
