Iskandar Yagub oglu Shirali ( az, İskəndər Yaqub oğlu Şirəli) November 21, 1960, – the head of Integrated Drilling Trust of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) (2007), the doctor of science (2014), the Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Engineering (RAE) (2014), professor of Gas, Petroleum and Mining Faculty of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (2015). Neftçala
Neftchala () is a city and the capital of the Neftchala District of Azerbaijan. Etymology The city name is of Persian language, Persian ("naft" meaning oil or petroleum) and Azerbaijani language, Azerbaijani ("çala" meaning trench) origin, meaning oil trench. History Throughout its history, Neftçala has suffered from floods because of its proximity to the river and most of the town's relatively low elevation. Umid Field
Umid gas field ( az, Ümid qaz yatağı) is the second largest natural gas field in Azerbaijan. It is situated in the South Caspian Sea, off the coast of Azerbaijan, approximately southeast of Baku, at a depth of . In translation from Azerbaijani, ''Umid'' means ''Hope''. History Umid field is a part of a block previously consisting of Umid and Babek fields. The geophysical works at Umid started in 1953 which were repeated in 1972. A total of 9 wells were drilled in the area from 1977 to 1992, however no commercially viable fields were discovered at the time. In 2009, SOCAR financed the exploration works at Umid itself. This is the first time since the Contract of the Century that Azerbaijan conducted exploration works entirely on its own. The discovery of 200 bcm and 30-40 million tons of condensate (around 270-360mn bbl) initially forecasted by Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh was announced by SOCAR on November 24, 2010 after successful drilling at on exploration platform ''Umid-1''. ...
