Isidro Díaz (footballer, Born 1972)
Isidro Díaz Bernabé (born 15 May 1972) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a right midfielder. Club career Born in Valencia, Díaz spent his first years as a senior in Tercera División, with the exception of the 1992–93 season, which ended in relegation from Segunda División B with Real Zaragoza's reserves. In the summer of 1995, he was part of a group of players dubbed "The Three Amigos" – which also included his compatriots Roberto Martínez and Jesús Seba – who were brought to Wigan Athletic by club chairman Dave Whelan; he helped the team win the Third Division title two years later, with the player contributing six goals in 35 matches. Unable to agree a new deal, Díaz left the club by mutual consent in July 1997 and signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers. He played one game for the latter, a 3–0 away defeat against Oxford United, before returning to Springfield Park later that year; his second spell with Wigan was not as successful, appearing just ... Real Zaragoza, S.A.D. (), commonly referred to as Zaragoza, is a football club based in Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain, that currently competes in the Segunda División, the second tier of the Spanish league system. The 1998–99 Football League (known as the Nationwide Football League for sponsorship reasons) was the 100th completed season of The Football League. Sunderland were crowned First Division champions with 105 points, then a record, having lost just three games all season, to prove right the many pundits who tipped them for promotion. The two other promotion places were secured by two of the division's least fancied sides — runners-up Bradford City (back in the top division for the first time in 77 years) and playoff winners Watford (who had won their second successive promotion during Graham Taylor's second spell as manager). Springfield Park (Wigan)
Springfield Park was a multi-purpose stadium in Wigan, Greater Manchester. It was the home ground of Wigan Athletic F.C. until the club moved to the new JJB Stadium (now DW Stadium) after the 1998–99 season. At its largest, the stadium held 40,000. In its 102-year existence the ground only saw 32 years as a Football League venue, 11 years for Wigan Borough F.C. and 21 years for Wigan Athletic FC, before it was demolished to make way for a housing estate in 1999. The stadium had previously been home to Wigan County, Wigan United, Wigan Town, and Wigan Borough (previously Wigan United and Wigan Association) as well as Wigan and Springfield Borough rugby league sides. Bolton Wanderers returned to the Premiership in superb fashion, hitting 100 goals and taking 98 points. Barnsley were promoted to the top flight for the first time in their history, while Crystal Palace returned after a two-year absence by winning the play-offs. The decline of Oldham Athletic continued, falling into the third tier for the first time in 23 years, and just three years after being in the Premiership.
