Isidro A. Negrón Irizarry
Isidro A. Negrón Irizarry (born December 3, 1956) is a Puerto Rican politician and former mayor of San Germán, the second oldest city in Puerto Rico. Early years and studies Isidro Negrón was born on December 3, 1956. He lived for the first 25 years of his life in Las Lomas Housing Project in San Germán, with his mother Maria E. Irizarry. Negrón first attended Julio Víctor Guzmán School and Lola Rodríguez de Tió High School, both in his hometown of San Germán. He graduated from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico San Germán campus with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Afterwards he got his Master of Science in Marine Science from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. San Germán, Puerto Rico
San Germán (, ) is a historic town and municipality located in the Sabana Grande Valley of southwestern region of Puerto Rico, south of Mayagüez and Maricao, north of Lajas, east of Hormigueros and Cabo Rojo, and west of Sabana Grande. San Germán is spread over eighteen barrios plus San Germán Pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). Phi Sigma Alpha (), commonly known as La Sigma, is a Puerto Rican fraternities and sororities, Puerto Rican fraternity originally established as the Sigma Delta Alpha Fraternity (Sociedad de Amigos) on October 22, 1928, at the University of Puerto Rico by 12 students and a professor. Phi Sigma Alpha can trace its roots back to 1898 to the Union Hispano Americana, as well as to the first ever Greek letter Hispanic-oriented fraternity, Sigma Iota, established in 1912. The 2008 Puerto Rican general elections were held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 to elect the officials of the Government of Puerto Rico that would serve for the next four years, most notably the Governor of Puerto Rico. The election was won by incumbent Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico Luis Fortuño (from the New Progressive Party), who defeated the incumbent Governor, Aníbal Acevedo Vilá (from the Popular Democratic Party). Fortuño received 1,025,965 votes, and Acevedo Vilá 801,071. Also, most of the other positions were won by the candidates of the New Progressive Party, who ended up with a majority of seats in the Senate and the House of Representatives. The elections occurred after one term of what was called "shared government", as a result of the 2004 elections. After a count by the State Commission of Elections, the winner was inaugurated to a four-year term as Governor of Puerto Rico on January 2, 2005.
