Ish Kabibble
Ish Kabibble (January 19, 1908 – June 5, 1994) was an American comedian and cornet player. Early life Born Merwyn Bogue in North East, Pennsylvania, he moved to Erie, Pennsylvania, with his family a few months after his birth. Career Bogue studied law at West Virginia University, but his comedy antics soon found an audience. He appeared in ten movies between 1939 and 1950. In ''Thousands Cheer'' (1943), he appeared with Kay Kyser and sang "I Dug a Ditch," and he also appeared as a vocalist in ''That's Right—You're Wrong'' (1939), '' You'll Find Out'' (1940), and '' Playmates'' (1941). In addition, he performed with Kyser on the radio and television quiz show ''Kay Kyser's Kollege of Musical Knowledge'' in 1949 and 1950. In his 1989 autobiography, Bogue explained his stage name, which he took from the lyrics of one of his comedic songs, "Isch ga-bibble." Ismael Angel Ledesma (born October 2, 1952) professionally known as Ish Ledesma is an American, Miami-based singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. Ledesma has fronted, written for, or produced hits for the bands Foxy, Oxo, and Company B. Both Oxo and Company B were one-hit wonders in the US, with respective hits " Whirly Girl" and " Fascinated"; Foxy released several albums and singles, including the number one R&B hit " Get Off". Early years Ish Ledesma was born in Cuba and migrated to Miami as a child. He was influenced by the ubiquitous Latin sounds, popular within his community. Ishmael Larry Smith (born July 5, 1988) is an American professional basketball player for the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Inderbir Singh "Ish" Sodhi (born 31 October 1992) is a New Zealand cricketer born in Punjab, India who represents the New Zealand national cricket team in all formats, and Canterbury in domestic cricket. David Ish-Horowicz FRS (born 1948) is a British scientist. He is currently a Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology at University College London (since 2013). Between 1987 and 2013, he was a Principal Scientist and Head of the Developmental Genetics Laboratory at Cancer Research UK (formerly Imperial Cancer Research Fund). He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2002 and won the Waddington Medal from the British Society for Developmental Biology in 2007. Kathryn Ish (February 18, 1936 – December 31, 2007) was an American Broadway theater, film, television and voiceover actress. She was also a founding member of '' The Committee'' political satire improvisational comedy group. Her television credits include ''Laverne & Shirley''. Ish was born in San Jose, California. She was reportedly heavily influenced by her high school drama teacher, who was a former vaudeville actor. She soon developed a reputation for her comedic imitations. Ish and her husband, actor Richard Stahl, met in New York City in 1959. They were both working as off Broadway theater actors at the time. They were married later in 1959. Nachum Ish Gamzu ( he, נחום איש גמזו, ''Naḥum Ish Gamzu'') was a tanna (Jewish sage) of the second generation (first century). Name Nachum Ish Gamzu's name is described in the Talmud as having grown colloquially from Nachum's tendency to react to misfortune with unyielding optimism, in each case uttering a phrase that became famously attached to him: "gam zu le-tovah," meaning, "this, too, is for the best." The two words "gam zu" ("גמ זו", meaning "this too") were combined into the single-word nickname "Gamzu" ("גמזו"), with "Ish Gamzu" then meaning "The Gamzu Man". Alternatively, Nathan ben Jehiel (in his ''Arukh'') describes Nachum's surname as being "Ish Gimzo", or "the man from Gimzo," based on the fact that there was a town named Gimzo in Israel at the time.
