Isgender Aznaurov
Isgender Aznaurov ( az, İsgəndər Söhrab oğlu Aznaurov) (16 August 1956, Bukhara Region, Uzbek SSR, USSR – 18 April 1993, Gadabay District, Azerbaijan) is a National Hero of Azerbaijan, and the warrior of the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. Biography Isgender Aznaurov was born on 16 August 1956 in the village of Galaosiyo of Bukhara Province of Uzbekistan into a Turkish Meskhetian family. From 1963 through 1973, he went to a secondary school. After completing his military service in Cherkessk, Ukraine, he was admitted to the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Melioration in 1978 from which he graduated in 1983. After his graduation, he worked in the Ahangaran District of the Tashkent Province. In 1989, after riots broke out between the Meskhetian Turks who had settled in Uzbekistan and the native Uzbeks in the Fergana Valley of Uzbekistan, hundreds of thousands of Meskhetian Turks fled into exile. Shamkir District ( az, Şəmkir rayonu) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the north-west of the country and belongs to the Gazakh-Tovuz Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Gadabay, Tovuz, Samukh, Goygol, and Dashkasan. Its capital and largest city is Shamkir. As of 2020, the district had a population of 219,500. Nizami Mammadov ( az, Nizami Murad oğlu Məmmədov) (12 January 1958, Khankendi, Azerbaijan SSR, USSR – 29 March 1992, Shusha, Azerbaijan) is a National Hero of Azerbaijan, and the warrior of the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. Life Nizami Mammadov was born on January 12, 1958, in Khankendi. After graduating from school number 4 named after Nizami Ganjavi served in the ranks of the Soviet army in the Irkutsk region in 1975-1977. With the beginning of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Nizami went to war. After that, a police officer, he transferred to Shusha, where he continued his service. Mammadov also participated in the delivery of food to self-defense battalions, and in a number of battles against the Armenian armed forces. Aytakin Israel oglu Mammadov ( az, Aytəkin Məmmədov) (29 May 1967, Gadabay, Azerbaijan SSR – December 1991, Goygol, Azerbaijan Republic) — was the military serviceman of Azerbaijan Armed Forces, warrior during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War and National Hero of Azerbaijan. Early life and education Mammadov was born on 29 May 1967 in Gadabay, Azerbaijan SSR. In 1984, he completed his secondary education. He had served in the Soviet Army during 1985–1987. First Nagorno-Karabakh War Mammadov had entered Ministry of Internal Affairs (Azerbaijan) Special Forces in 1991 and was sent to Goygol against Armenian troops. On December, 1991, he was killed in one of the battles around Goygol District. Mazahir Rustamov (''Rustamov Mazahir Izzet oglu''; 1960, Baku – 1992, Gadabay District), was a National Hero of Azerbaijan. Early life Vital Rustamov Mazahir Izzet oglu was born on March 2, 1960, in , in an intelligent family. In 1977 he graduated from school # 32 in Nizami district. 1978 entered the history faculty of Baku State University. In 1983 he finished his education with honors diploma. Since 1986 he has been working as a senior laboratory assistant at the Azerbaijan State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering. In 1990, he worked as the head of the Department of Foreign Relations with Foreign Countries at the Ministry of State Press. The Qizil Ulduz Medal (Gold Star) ( az, "Qızıl Ulduz" medalı) is an award that honors a National Hero of Azerbaijan. The award was established by Abulfaz Elchibey (the former President of Azerbaijan) on March 25, 1992 (by Decree No. 201). This award is conferred for bravery and courage shown in defense of the sovereignty, the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan and for the protection of its civil population. History Original form The medal was initially in the form of a gold-filled crescent facing to the right that enclosed an eight-pointed star with flat dihedral rays on the front face.
