Isaiah Jewett
Isaiah Champion Jewett (born February 6, 1997) is an Olympic American middle-distance runner who specialises in the 800m. Career On June 21, 2021, at the United States Olympic Trials held in Eugene, Oregon, he finished runner up with a personal best time of 1:43.85 behind Olympic bronze medalist Clayton Murphy. It was particularly poignant for Jewett as the race was close to the anniversary of his brother Robert's death. Jewett had won the NCAA 800m title on the same Hayward Field track just 10 days previously. A student at the University of Southern California, Jewett had to finish a 10-page essay by midnight immediately after his Olympic-qualifying run because his professor did not grant an extension. His NCAA winning time of 1:44.68 took him to #1 on the USC all time list, ahead of Olympians Ibrahim Okash and Duane Solomon. Inglewood is a city in southwestern Los Angeles County, California, in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, the city had a population of 107,762. History Cathedral High School was founded by Archbishop John Joseph Cantwell as the first Los Angeles Archdiocesan high school for boys in Fall 1925. 2023 USA Outdoor Track And Field Championships
The 2023 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships were held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon from July 6–9, 2023. They served as USA Track & Field's (USATF) national championships in track and field for the United States. The results of the event determined qualification for the 2023 World Athletics Championships, held in Budapest, and the 2023 Pan American Games, held in Santiago, Chile. Provided they achieved the World standard or are in the World Athletics ranking quota, the top two athletes in each event will gain a place on the Team USA World team. In the event that a leading athlete does not hold the standard, or an athlete withdraws, the next-highest-finishing athlete with the standard will be selected instead. Nijel Amos
Nijel Carlos Amilfitano Amos (born 15 March 1994) is a Motswana middle-distance runner who competes in the 800 metres. He won silver at the 2012 Summer Olympics, which was Botswana's first ever Olympic medal. Early life Nijel Amos is from Marobela village in the North Eastern part of Botswana. He went to Nyamambisi Primary School in Marobela, Shangano Community Junior Secondary School (2007 to 2009) in Nshakashongwe and Tutume McConnell Community College (2010 to 2011). The men's 800 metres event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place between 31 July and 4 August 2021 at the Japan National Stadium. In total 48 athletes were to start, but only 47 (from 29 nations) actually did. Emmanuel Korir of Kenya won the event, with his countryman Ferguson Rotich taking silver. It was the fourth consecutive victory in the men's 800 metres for Kenya. Patryk Dobek earned bronze, giving Poland its first medal in the event. Summary The 800 metres was far less predictable than other events. World record holder and double Olympic Champion, David Rudisha was not back to defend the title.
