Isaac Edward Morse
Isaac Edward Morse (May 22, 1809 – February 11, 1866) was a United States Congressman from Louisiana and Attorney General of Louisiana. He was born in Attakapas, Louisiana. Biography Morse attended school in Elizabethtown, New Jersey, and the Norwich Military Academy in Norwich, Vermont. He graduated from Harvard University in 1829. He studied law and was admitted to the bar and practiced in New Orleans, Louisiana, and St. Martinville, Louisiana, from 1835 to 1842. In 1842, he was elected to the Louisiana State Senate, serving through 1844. He was then elected to the United States Congress as a Democrat to fill the vacancy created by the death of Peter E. Bossier. He was reelected to the Twenty-ninth, Thirtieth, and Thirty-first Congresses and served from December 2, 1844, to March 3, 1851. Franklin Pierce
Franklin Pierce (November 23, 1804October 8, 1869) was the 14th president of the United States, serving from 1853 to 1857. He was a northern Democrat who believed that the abolitionist movement was a fundamental threat to the nation's unity. He alienated anti-slavery groups by signing the Kansas–Nebraska Act and enforcing the Fugitive Slave Act. Conflict between North and South continued after Pierce's presidency, and, after Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1860, Southern states seceded, resulting in the American Civil War. Pierce was born in New Hampshire. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1833 until his election to the Senate, where he served from 1837 until his resignation in 1842. Isaac Johnson
Isaac Johnson (November 1, 1803 – March 15, 1853) was a US politician and the 12th Governor of the state of Louisiana. Born on his father's plantation "Troy" near St. Francisville in West Feliciana Parish, Johnson was the fourth son of John Hunter Johnson and Thenia Munson. Johnson's grandfather, Isaac Johnson, arrived in the area in the 1770s, and his father had a leading role in the West Florida Rebellion. Later he served as a British officer in Natchez, Mississippi during the English occupation and was a lawyer, planter, parish sheriff and judge, finally settling at Fairview Plantation on Bayou Sara in Louisiana. Johnson was taught by private tutors early and read law under his father and his uncle Joseph E. Johnson, eventually establishing his own law practice. Johnson married Charlotte McDermott in 1828. John Moore (1788 – June 17, 1867) was an American statesman and planter from Louisiana. He served in the United States House of Representatives from 1840 to 1843 and again from 1851 to 1853. He was a lifelong member of the United States Whig Party. Biography John Moore was born in 1788 in Berkeley County, Virginia (now part of West Virginia).
