Menzelinsky District (russian: Мензели́нский райо́н; tt-Cyrl, Минзәлә районы, ''Minzälä rayonı'') is a territorial administrative unit and municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan within the Russian Federation. The district is located on the right bank of the Kama River, in the north-eastern part of the Republic of Tatarstan. The administrative center is Menzelinsk. The classification system of inhabited localities in Russia and some other post-Soviet states has certain peculiarities compared with those in other countries. Classes During the Soviet time, each of the republics of the Soviet Union, including the Russian SFSR, had its own legislative documents dealing with classification of inhabited localities.
