Irshad Ahmed Ansari is an Indian carrom player. He is the defending carrom world champion as of December 2019. Career Ansari won his first world title in men's singles after defeating fellow Indian Prashant More in the men's singles final of the 8th Carrom ICF Cup 2019. He lost the first set without a fight in the final 3-25 before coming back strongly to defeat More 25-14 and 25-24 in the next two sets. He was also a key member of the Indian team which won the world title in the men's tournament after defeating Sri Lanka in the final of the 2019 Carrom Mini World Cup. Carrom is a tabletop game of Indian origin in which players flick discs, attempting to knock them to the corners of the board. 8th Carrom ICF Cup 2019
The 8th edition of the ICF Carrom cup was held in Pune, India from 2 to 6 December 2019. This was the 3rd consecutive ICF cup India has hosted. India won the men's team event and women's team event title. Irshad Ahmed Ansari of India defeated 2018 World Cup winner Prashant More to claim his maiden international trophy in the men's singles event. In the women's singles event, S. Apoorva of India beat Ayesha Mohamed of India to complete a hat trick of international titles as she won the singles title in 2016 Carrom World Championship and 2018 Carrom World Cup. Prashant More
Prashant More is an Indian carrom player. He is a two time carrom world champion in 2016 and 2018. Career Prashant won his first world title in men's singles at the 2016 Carrom World Championship. He was also a member of the Indian team which emerged as runners-up to Sri Lanka in the men's tournament at the 2016 World Championships. He defended his men's singles world title at the 2018 Carrom World Cup which was also his second individual World title. He was part of the Indian squad which lost to Sri Lanka in the finals of the 2018 Carrom World Cup. He became runners-up to fellow Indian Irshad Ahmed Ansari in the men's singles final of the 8th Carrom ICF Cup 2019 despite having an early advantage in the final.
