Ironman Triathlon World Championship
The Ironman World Championship has been held annually in Hawaii since 1978, with an additional race in 1982. It is owned and organized by the World Triathlon Corporation. It is the annual culmination of a series of Ironman triathlon qualification races held throughout the world. History From 1978 through 1980 the race was held on the island of Oahu, the course combining that of three events already held there: the Waikiki Roughwater Swim (2.4 mi./3.86 km), the Around-Oahu Bike Race (115 mi./185.07 km, originally a two-day event), and the Honolulu Marathon. The bike stage was reduced by 3 miles to link it to the start of the marathon course. Gustav Iden
Gustav Iden (born 1 May 1996) is a professional Norwegian triathlete. He is a 2022 Ironman World champion and he is a two-time winner of the Ironman 70.3 World Championship, winning in 2019 and 2021. At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, Iden placed 8th in the men's triathlon. In 2018, he was part of a world-first Norwegian 1-2-3 with Casper Stornes and Kristian Blummenfelt finishing ahead of him in first and second place respectively at WTS Bermuda. Tom Warren (triathlete)
Tom "Tug" Warren (born November 11, 1943) is an American triathlete, an Ironman champion, an inductee of both the Ironman Hall of Fame and the USA Triathlon Hall of Fame, and a former sports bar owner from San Diego, California. Early life and education Warren was the youngest of two children, with brother Bill, born to his mother Josephine and his father George, a former senior vice president of a savings and loan bank. Warren grew up in Pacific Beach, a coastal community of San Diego, and graduated from Mission Bay High School. He went on to graduate from the University of Southern California with a degree in accounting, and then served three years in the U.S. Army. At USC, he played water polo and swam on three NCAA championship swimming teams. . Mirinda Carfrae
Mirinda Carfrae (born 26 March 1981) is an Australian professional triathlete and an Ironman Triathlon world champion. Carfrae has achieved podium positions in six of her seven attempts at the Ironman World Championships: 1st-place finishes (2010, 2013, 2014), three 2nd-place finishes (2009, 2011, 2016) and a 3rd place (2012, behind Leanda Cave and Caroline Steffen). Lucy Charles
Lucy Charles-Barclay (born 15 September 1993) is an English professional triathlete specialising in the Ironman and 70.3 distances, who is the 2021 World Champion in that discipline. Prior to taking up triathlon, Charles was an elite distance and open water swimmer. She attempted to gain selection for the British swimming team for the 2012 Olympic trials in both the pool and open water. She was, however, unsuccessful, despite having beaten open water trials winner Keri-anne Payne in the Great North Swim a month previously. Sam Laidlow (born December 23, 1998 in Oakley, Bedfordshire.) is a French professional triathlete.
