Iron Davis
George Allen "Iron" Davis Jr. (March 9, 1890 – June 4, 1961) was an American professional baseball pitcher. He played all or part of four seasons in Major League Baseball from 1912 to 1915. He played for the Boston Braves and New York Highlanders. College When Davis arrived at Williams College, he had never played baseball and he did not seem athletic enough for it. "His strength was confined to his brains and he had the physique of an Oliver Twist," wrote Ring Lardner. Davis neglected his studies in his freshman year because he was working out in the gymnasium and teaching himself to throw a baseball. When Williams coach Billy Lauder saw Davis in the gym one day, he allowed Davis to join the baseball team. Edward Francis Lafitte (April 7, 1886April 12, 1971) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball who played with the Detroit Tigers (1909–12), Brooklyn Tip-Tops (1914–15), and Buffalo Blues (1915). Born in New Orleans, Louisiana at his family's home located at 319 Bourbon Street, he batted and threw right-handed. Joe Benz
Joseph Louis Benz (January 21, 1886 – April 22, 1957) was an American pitcher in Major League Baseball from 1911 to 1919. He played for the Chicago White Sox. Benz's two main pitches were the spitball and the knuckleball. Benz pitched a no-hitter for the White Sox on May 13, 1914, against the Cleveland Naps. He was a member of the Sox teams that reached the World Series in both 1917 and 1919, but appeared in neither. Benz had a 7-3 record during the 1917 season and was 8-8 a year later, throwing 10 complete games.
