Iris (Texas Band)
Iris was an American synthpop band, formed by Reagan Jones and Mat Morris in 1993. After the release of their first album '' Disconnect'', Matthew Morris was replaced with Andrew Sega, who pushed the band's sound in a more experimental electronic direction. Their final album, ''Six,'' was released in September 2019. Iris disbanded in 2021. History The band was initiated in 1993 as Forgiving Iris, with members Reagan Jones (vocals/ keyboards), Matt Morris (keyboards/ programming).Irisat Allmusic The two had met in college and, influenced by artists such as Erasure and Depeche Mode, began playing covers locally in Austin, Texas. Alpinestars (band)
Alpinestars was an electronic rock duo formed in 1999 in Manchester by Richard Woolgar and Glyn Thomas. History The Beginnings (1995–1999) Richard Woolgar and Glyn Thomas met each other in 1995, as a result of being in separate bands that shared the same rehearsal space. They found they had more in common with each other than with their respective bands, so they broke away to form their own ephemeral electro group, which they named "Maxim". Although Maxim never produced anything, it brought Woolgar and Thomas to the attention of the promoter of a local Manchester club. They were invited to create an hour-long set to perform live within a week. They took the name "Alpinestars" after a mountain bike Thomas owned and proceeded to meet the challenge. Mesh (band)
Mesh are a British electronic alternative band from Bristol, England. They have achieved chart success and recognition in Europe. Biography Mesh formed in 1991 after lead singer Mark Hockings and Richard Silverthorn (keyboards) met each other at a concert where Richard Silverthorn's band was playing. Soon afterwards, Neil Taylor, Silverthorn's former bandmate, joined the band on keyboards. The creative writing was split between Richard Silverthorn, who composes the music, and Mark Hockings, who writes the lyrics. Mesh were signed by the Swedish label Memento Materia and an EP, ''Fragile'', was released in 1994. This was followed by a full album, ''In This Place Forever'', in 1996, and 1997 the band released an extended version of ''Fragile''. ''Awakening'' is the second album by indietronica group Iris, released in 2003. ''Awakening'' was the first album to feature Andrew Sega, who added guitars and pushed the band's sound into a more experimental electronic direction. Background After several shows that followed after '' Disconnect'', Reagan Jones and Matthew Morris started having arguments about their musical direction. Morris was focused on his personal life, and he wasn't interested in going back into the studio for the second album. He met Andrew Sega through the original singer of CTRL Joel Willard in 2001, and told him that Jones was looking for someone new to work with. Sega and Jones started working on some test tracks, the first of which would later become "Unknown". Erasure () is an English synth-pop duo formed in London in 1985, consisting of lead vocalist and songwriter Andy Bell with songwriter, producer and keyboardist Vince Clarke, previously known as co-founder of the band Depeche Mode and a member of synth-pop duo Yazoo.
